This morning we went back to Ohso Café in Crummer Rd Grey Lynn for brunch. It’s a place we’ve been to a couple of times but today the overwhelming topic of conversation around the food was that we need to go back more often. The menu is an excellent selection of standard breakfast fare, cereals, Eggs Benedict, French Toast, Mushrooms and more. I chose the ohSO Mixed Grill. It’s pretty much a Paleo feast if you order it without the toast. On the plate came poached eggs, meatballs, bacon, mushrooms, tomato, chorizo and potatoes. The bacon was wonderfully crispy in parts and the tomatoes were perfectly roasted. Four of our group chose from the ‘Build Your Own’ section of the menu which has an impressive 24 individual items you can choose from avocado, wilted spinach, feta cheese, smoked salmon, roast kumara, pesto, cream cheese, breads, spreads, the list goes on… They are open for lunch too with salads, burgers, fish, soup and fries among the offerings. Wine, beer ands cider are also available.

Stumbled across this little quaint café by accident. We decided to check it out and it didn’t disappoint. Staff were nice and friendly without being in your face. We ordered the German Farmer’s Breakfast and the Spicy Beef Burger. Both were delicious. Beef burger was moist and spices wasn’t too over done. Couldn’t hurt to have another piece of bread on the Farmer’s breakfast as it was rich but that’s just from a bread lover :)

YES a good neighbourhood café for delicious breakfast and cozy interior. their chorizo and mushroom in balsamic cream reduction on toasted ciabatta was amazingly good but gets quite rich after awhile, still demolished the whole plate. The ciabatta crust was really hard to cut into but thats just ciabatta in general and hopefully i can just ask for another bread next time. Service was really friendly and fast. Price is normal for breakfast in this area so can’t complain. Definitely coming back here sometime soon! Also love their english breakfast tea, remind me of Hong Kong style Milk tea which is weirdly good… need to find out what tea they use!

Had the spicy burger. The burger was great but I did have food envy over the other meals on the table. The fish looks delicious and the chicken salad also. The staff are very friendly. Definitely worth going to for lunch.

Had breakfast here and the entire experience was great. I have a thing about well-done toast. Especially as I eat gluten-free bread. Nine times out of ten my request for well-done is ignored. Not today at ohSO Café. The waiter and waitress were friendly, efficient and the food delectable. Scrambled eggs(cooked just as I had asked), wilted spinach which had been tossed in lashings of olive oil, crispy, smokey bacon and crunchy toast filled a huge plate. A half portion would have been ample. Delicious, good quality produce well cooked. A spicy almond milk chai washed it down. And those pretty little flowering plants lining the verandah made me think of a rain– sprinkled day in Paris. ohSO nice.

Great quiet spot in a business/residential area. Every plate in our group was well prepared. Served with a smile and helpful menu suggestions. I had the German Farmer’s breakfast which is essentially a scramble with potatoes and peppers that was perfectly soft. I hate over cooked eggs. Most breakfasts were served with crunchy chewy sourdough toast. The various eggs Benedict received great reviews from my colleagues. I’ll be back tomorrow!

oh! So is a great option for lunch if you work in and around Ponsonby. Their all day menu features all the usual breakfast options — porridge, eggs benny to name a few — as well as more substantial offerings. My go to is the chicken dish, which has a bit of a middle eastern flair with a roast vegetable and couscous salad and a yoghurt-based tzakziki sort of sauce. It’s delicious, but at $ 22 is definitely more of a treat than an everyday expense. Added bonus: they have off street parking round the back!

I’ve updated my review to 5stars, the girls are making much better coffee than the guys ever did. Keep up the great work. Its in a nice little spot that isn’t to busy, food was ok but this is the second time I ordered a large coffee and was given a small, very disappointing.
