The staff was pleasant and I liked the different seating options, but the food was regrettably bland.(«Comes with fruit» also means one strawberry + 1.5 grapes.) Open before all the surrounding cafes for Sunday brunch which is why we choose it, but I’d wait for something else to open next time. Pretty average.

Located on the hip Ponsonby street, this is one of the nicer coffee joints to stop by for breakfast and even for lunch when they have live music. We came in pretty early in the morning for breakie, and ordered a cappuccino, mocha and breakfast plate with sauteed mushrooms and toast. The waitress was very friendly and served food when it was ready. Coffee was fabulous. The breakie plate was delicious with two thin slices of bread and perfectly sauteed mushrooms on the side. Certainly worth a stop at One 2 One Café!

I’ve always wondered what this place was like from the outside and this week I got to find out. Unfortunately, Wednesday night was not live jazz night like we had hoped but open mike poetry night! So we wined and rhymed with an eclectic selection of local bards. The food was ok and the service amiable. Not related to either, but to the entertainment provided, I confess I shall never again be able to look at a Pavlova the same way…

Love love love this place. Drinks, food, prices, staff, ambiance — 5 stars, all of it. I was in need of a big coffee, workable space, and free wifi. Prayers answered at One 2 One. I got a soy flat white BOWL(excessive, perhaps), for just $ 5.50, which is so decent considering it was the size of 2 drinks, and made with soy milk. To eat I ordered the roasted vege salad. I was savoring every. single. bite. of this delicious masterpiece. Made with roasted pumpkin, kumara, capsicum, parsnip, squash, pumpkin seeds, haloumi, and mesclun. It was warm, fresh, light but filling. So delicious! I would come back tomorrow for that friggin salad. The back patio is like a little greenery getaway, with heaters, soft lighting and covering for even a dreary, drizzly day or night. On Wed, Thurs, and Fri nights they have live music. I wasn’t looking to day drink so I didn’t order any adult bevvies, but I looked at their options and found a nice-sized list of organic wines and beer, all very reasonably prices($ 8 – 11 dollars). The friendly manager tells me they are building out their dinner menu, so expect to see some calamari, corn fritters, burgers, and more to enjoy while sipping your wine and listening to live tunes. I’m ready to be a regular here.

My first Unilocal review! So excited. I love cafes, I’m an artist who lives in them and my imagination reminds me I’m alive when in them… really cool ones though with awesome energy. I go in there to «bloom». This café has a really cool swag, I love the interior design and warm feel. they have live music so call in to know when. Wifi. Really nice employees and even got offered a waitressing position when meeting the manager and just talking about the place. If youw ant a café with a cool artistic energy for studying or working, this is one. –Mocha: not too sweet(I’ve had better but try it yourself, we all have different taste buds)

I’ve come here a few times for coffee and brunch dates with friends. It’s always a success and reminds me of what cafes used to be like before they went all cold-minimalist-chic. It’s really cozy and has seating out front and out the back to you can get the sun all day. They have great cabinet food and a good menu too. We like to go there in the morning; fuel up on caffeine and delicious treats then hit the shops! And there are plenty of shops around there to keep you busy like Juliette Hogan, Karen Walker and Zambezi, so you will definitely need the all the energy you can get and this café is the place to get it. It’s in such a good location for a café and considering they’ve been around for so long they must be doing something right.

This is the best café in the suburb, not a title I’m willing to bandy about. Gone is the cold, impersonality of a Ponsonby café; gone is the uniform, chain store coffee. One 2 One oozes character and flavour. Staff comfortably chatting with guests, no customers, as they enjoy a live piano performance. A rustic courtyard with ivy covered walls and trellised panels, even a sandpit for children. One mic nights and jazz events for late night relaxation and so you don’t have to rely on burnt bar coffee. Sorry, $ 2.50 for an espresso? In Ponsonby? I would have fallen out of my chair if I was sitting down. Emphatically I have to say that One 2 One is the most comfortable, unaffected café you will have the privilege of relaxing in, for repose or rejuvenation.

I am a massive fan of any café that has an outdoor area and a sandpit for the toddler to play in, celebration! One to One café also sells delicious Millers Coffee, and has expertise baristas that amaze you with flawless coffee. The range of cakes, biscuits, muffins, baps, and goodies on the counter are also fantastic. One to One also doubles as a music venue some evenings, so be sure to return for an open mic night or performance and meet some of the more bohemian talent of the central city. Great service and lots of space to sit, and enjoy time out on Ponsonby Road.

On a particularly challenging Saturday afternoon, by the time we got everyone ready for the day and hit the road it was well past lunchtime. These are the things that can happen when you have three children — the simplest things take waaaaaay more time than you think. So like a lot of these kinds of problems, we threw money at it and decided to go to One 2 One Café as we were in the area. Brunch at 3pm wasn’t a problem and we picked a nice big table in the shade out the back. The courtyard is lovely; full of flowers, plants and on this day, a heaving grapevine that in hindsight I really wished I’d raided. But dammit I told the kids they couldn’t so had to set the example. Good olé Eggs Bene for us and sweet Pancakes for the«triplets» as the nice man called them. And as usual my order was not from the menu; they kindly replaced the salmon/bacon option with avocado for me which is my favourite. Everything was great here except for our Iced Coffee(which if you’ve read my other reviews you’ll know is REALLY important to me). It was unsweetened and because chunky sugar crystals don’t dissolve very well in cold milk, my husband went to the counter to see if we could get it fixed. The(barista?) French guy he encountered there(not the same person who had been thus far taking care of us extremely well) said«we never sweeten the iced coffee» and after an unacceptable amount of back and forth, finally agreed to sort it out. Eventually we got what we wanted and when we asked our original waitperson what the deal was, he said of course the iced coffee should have been sweetened in the first place. I CAN’T STAND arrogant hospo-types; granted, the customer is not ALWAYS right but in this case we were! And it’s really no one else’s business how we want our coffee — just give us what we want. Apart from this one guy I would really recommend this place and it’s been in business so long that clearly many others agree. Apparently they have live music here too so check out the website for details.
