This place is generally quite clean and located on the Ponsonby strip, opposite SPQR! They have all the regular food including burgers, beer-battered or crumbed(fresh) fish, potato fritters, mussels, donuts, hotdogs and crab fingers. Fairly expensive, however well presented fish-n-chips presented with lemon wedges and an ample portion, but not too generous! You can phone through your order which saves time, parking right outside. Good service overall.

Auckland’s Best Fish and Chip Shop, Ponsonby Road Fried Teraki, chips and a can of drink for under $ 10! I was in need of a quick bite and wanted to sit in the park as it was such a sunny day. I called into this fish and chip shop which proved to be quite popular. The fish was fried in front of my eyes and the batter was light and crispy. It was served with a slice of lemon, which was a nice touch. The portion size was perfect for one person. The chips were pre-cut — not prepared on the premises but were ok. I think the staff could be better prepared — I had to ask everything which they could have pre-empted, such as providing cutlery, napkins and extra condiments. Do not ask for your food open as they wrap them and then make a hole in one end which makes it nigh on impossible to eat. You can sit outside but why not go round the corner to Western Park which is already set up for picnickers with tables and chairs dotted around the park. Service: ok, food: good, value: good. Great if you haven’t got time to cook and are in need of quick, fresh fast and cheap food.

Lets be honest; Ponsonby Fresh Fish and Chips is not as great as those nut-jobs at Metro magazine would have you believe. Those dudes don’t know squat about chippies. This place is pretty good. But it is definitely not the best. Sure, the chips are pretty great, and I’ve never eaten fish from here, but the donuts are a bloody disaster. Possibly the worst donuts in the country. The price of chips is high, but I guess that’s symptomatic of the economy. They have a great sign. I’m not that into the weird L&P branding they’ve exercised though. I guess if you’re in Ponsonby and you want fish and chips, you should go here. But don’t expect the portion size or anything else to blow you away. To be honest, if you’re expecting some fish and chips to ‘blow you away’ you’re probably a bit of a chowderhead.
