I loved staying at Quay West while I was in Auckland. It’s perfectly situated on Albert St and within walking distance of a lot. This wasn’t your standard hotel room, but apartments with kitchens, living rooms, washing machines and dyers, etc. Our room was on the 24th floor so we had wonderful views. My last night there to relax I enjoyed their pool, hot tub, and sauna. The pool and hot tub are in a decently sized room with two walls of windows. There’s a small outdoor space but no lounge chairs, which I was hoping for. Next time I’m in Auckland I will definitely look up Quay West again.

I’ve had the luxury of staying at Quay West a couple of times now. The first time my friend hired out this awesome room for her birthday and we had a huge party up on some ridiculous floor, just like real rock stars. It was the perfect location, right on Albert Street and perfect for downtown and Queen Street. The room was huge and we had the most awesome balcony. We managed to squeeze quite a few people in there, only to be told off by the hotel staff for making far too much noise. So we went out for the night and then came back, and enjoyed a sweet continental breakfast the next morning. We had a great time and that was the reason we decided to splurge one night after a concert at Vector. Would definitely go back and would certainly recommend it for people not from Auckland looking for a place to stay.

Quay West really couldn’t get any better in terms of location. Nestled right on Albert Street, its walking distance to Skycity, the viaduct, Queen Street– basically anywhere worth going in town. The check-in took a little longer than expected, and we also had to carry our own bags to our room(on the 22nd floor), but not being too high maintenance we forgave them after seeing our view from our balcony. As I said, the location: supreme. The rooms are spacious, kitchens are well equipped and their beds are super comfy! Our room was high up enough to avoid the sounds of town on Saturday night. We stayed in a one bedroom superior suite, although they do offer two– and three-bedroom suites aswell. We were tempted to order some room service after a long night out, but when you’ve got a kebab place stone’s throw from your front door, there really is no competition. Checking out was a breeze and we were out of there in no time. Their reception managers were mostly cordial throughout our stay and, while I’ve experienced much friendlier faces, they did their jobs well. We only stayed for one night but I do understand that they have daily servicing which is great for longer stays.
