The place is cute but the selection is terrible and so is the service. They only had cheese and pepperoni pizza available at 6 pm, which is a bit strange. The cashier is pretty unfriendly as well.

I have been to a few of the Sal’s Pizzerias, mostly K Rd & Queen Street. I love the fact you can buy one piece at a time and not commit to buying a whole pizza. Cheese pizza per slice is $ 4($ 24 whole pizza) and all other slices are $ 5($ 28-$ 34 whole pizza). Generally — tasty in flavour — however very oily on my most recent dine-in experience. I also had the garlic knots, 3 for $ 3 which is inexpensive but mild in garlic lashings. This eatery is tiny in space so if there is a queue, you almost end up sitting with the diners! The staff are nonchalant and lacklustre, which is a shame. I would probably get take-out over dine-in next time. Sal’s have 10 stores: Fort St, Wynyard Quarter, K’Rd, Manukau, Browns Bay, Henderson, Takapuna, Parnell, Queen St & Hamilton! You can order online for pickup or delivery now too. Daily specials, HUGE Facebook following & they have AYCE weekends(12 – 2.30pm) eat all you can pizza for $ 15!!!

Ahh! I don’t know why anyone would give this place a bad review. This is a tiny shop that’s barely big enough for you to walk in and order. But don’t let that stop you from coming in. I was a little iffy at first because I figured they wouldn’t meet up to the«New York style» pizza they claimed. But wow!!! I felt like I was back home in the states eating at «taste of Italy»(my fav pizza place). The pizza seems a but over priced(even for NZ standards). $ 38 a pie? No thanks, but I’ll drop in for a $ 5 slice(: Also, the wings are super good.

This was only my second visit to a Sal’s pizza, the other being in Hamilton. We knew what to expect, was pleased to see a queue of peoples waiting for their culinary delights for the evening. It has a very small place mainly designed for take aways, as the only have about 6 tables available. We had a couple of slices of their mushroom and pepperoni pizza with mozzarella sticks. They were both consumed quite quickly wishing we had brought more. We need one of these in Pukekohe !!!

Came here because I was getting nostalgic about NY pizza. The slices are not really like NYC pizza, but the place does a decent job of attempting to achieve that same level of oily grease. The slices are smaller than a typical NYC slice and the cheese taste was slightly off. Was also put off that they had images of Di Fara Pizza in Brooklyn, NY. I’m originally from Brooklyn and have had Di Fara’s pizza before(used to live just a few blocks away from the place growing up), and the slices here are nothing like Di Fara’s, especially since the guy uses authentic Italian ingredients and his famous pizzas are distinct with the slightly burnt crust and fresh basil. Not sure if it’s a regular thing, but they were playing ESPN on the tube here and I was able to catch some American football(which I don’t really care for much but it was nice to see something familiar, especially since I don’t have a «working» TV here in Auckland).

Since Sal’s on Queen St opened over two years ago it has been a go-to place for me when I’m in the CBD and feeling a bit peckish. It’s a cozy location with just 6 tables, but really good to pop-in, have a bite, and pop back out again into the hustle and bustle. If you’re hungry waiting on the corner of Queen & Wellesley and counting down the days to your next paycheck(a cheese slice is $ 4) but still want some quality food, stop by Sal’s. Just a note, they’ve expanded their menu to include hot wings and have decent beer and wine on offer which would be enjoyable at some of their bigger locations like Parnell or Takapuna.
