Discovered this gem on our first day visiting from Seattle and we were quite pleased. The coffee was enough to make me feel as though I was right at home. The proprietors were the sweetest people ever and the food was so delicious. The eggs Benedict was rich and hearty. A thick slab of ham on a toasted muffin and hollandaise sauce that is CLEARLY house made. I will take all of my breakfasts here when we return.

This place is honestly the best. I haven’t yet found a place in the CBD where the coffee tastes better and the staff are the nicest people you could hope to meet. I’m a bit of a regular there by now and they always remember my name and coffee order without me even having to say anything. I believe there’s wifi if you buy something and ask for the password, and it’s a great place to sit by the window and people watch especially in the morning. The food is moderately priced for the most part with a couple things a little more expensive but it’s all tasty stuff.

The owners are lovely people and Seattle provides a reliable and consistent coffee experience when transiting to/from the ferries. Of particular note is the well made coffee and beans. They have a selection of pre-made sandwiches, muffins and usually some bananas and apples. My favourite is the tandoori chicken wrap!

I’ve never been to the real Seattle, but going to this place reminded me of being in New York, especially on the upper level(I have a very limited knowledge of the USA, it might not even be like a New York café but that’s what it felt like to me). I used to come here all the time when I worked at the ferry company, because they do one of the best damn mocha’s in Auckland. For someone like me who hates the taste of coffee, the mocha was perfect; not too strong or overly coffee-ey, smooth, creamy and chocolatey. Yum. Their other stuff(fries, toasted sandwiches, muffins etc) are a bit overpriced, the muffin I had once from there was gigantic but dry. The service is good; the waitresses/serving girls were always friendly and greet you with a smile every time you walk in.

I had a pretty generic café experience at Seattle Espresso. They did, however, make an excellent milkshake, and, because apparently I’m an eleven-year-old from the past, I know my milkshakes. This one was closer to thickshake standard, sufficiently flavoured and the right amount of icecream. I don’t know that downing one of these right before getting on the ferry was the best choice, but probably most people are more forward-thinking than my childlike self. Other than that the place was fine but unstandoutish. It is conveniently placed at the downtown ferry terminal so a handy spot to pop in for a coffee or a snack. It faces Quay Street and also has more seating upstairs. There’s an array of slices and other such things at the counter as well.
