Been here once and would definitely love to go back. The atmosphere is lovely and customer service from all staff was excellent. Who would have thought a place like this is located in South Auckland! The only down fall for me was the prices for a dish. They range from $ 20+ for a main dish. I have been to some thai restaurants who serve the same or similar dish for cheaper however, I do highly recommend you try this restaurant! As soon as u walk through the gate u feel like your in a totally different place and it’s great for functions etc.

Loved the setting and loved the atmosphere. Food was well cooked and well presented. Amazing authentic thai food which is indeed a secret! You would not know it from the front. The food was quite spicy I must admit, but what do you expect. All in all, a great restaurant and I would definitely go back. :)

You must go here at least once. This is a wonderful place to come to with a large group(or a small one for that matter). The other reviews here give an accurate description of the location and décor and this place is uniquely quaint and feels like a slice of Thailand, slap bang in the middle of Otahuhu! Who’d’ve thought? They also do a cracking trade in takeaways — the last time I was there I sat at a table where we could see the counter and I was amazed at how many people called in to collect their food. The staff are typically lovely, polite and gracious, as so many Thais are. If you like Thai food with added atmosphere come and check it out.

This place is absolutely magical. Literally, it’s like you’ve transported from the backstreets of Otahuhu to a secret garden in Thailand. I don’t want to ruin it for you with an overly verbose description but think along the line of water features, coloured fairy lights, intricately detailed thai statues, lush greenery and decorative tuk tuks and you’ll get the picture. I headed here recently with my Dad and his partner — a thai enthusiast. All of us were rather famished so quickly ordered a round of entrees to share; the Satay Chicken($ 12) and Angel Wings($ 11) and Tom Yum Gai($ 10). The food come out lickety split and was all pretty delicious but the Satay was most definitely my fav — perfectly cooked chicken with lashings of thick peanut sauce… delish! For ours mains we shared a good ol’ Pad Thai, Penang Curry and Beef Larb. The Penang was relatively spicy and definitely tasty but nothing to write home about but the Pad Thai and the Larb I loved. The Pad Thai was relatively light and full of flavour(probably one of the best i’ve had. ever!) and the Larb was deliciously limey, with a touch of heat. This would be such a cool place to come with a big group. I am definitely going to keep it in mind for the next time I organize a gathering. Love, love, love!

A hidden gem in Otahuhu, Secret Thai Garden offers a solid meal in a wonderful setting. While the offer the usual fare of Thai food, they bring their own twist on flavours at a pretty competitive price(which is just a bonus really). They’ve got a great selection of curries and soups but I’m always fond of their pad thai and stir fried cashew nuts with pork. Entrees are what you would expect from any Thai restaurant, very small portions, but are still great to eat, especially the prawn canapes– delicious! There’s a set menu for larger groups which cover the main categories within the a la carte menu, and I would definitely recommend this. Secret Thai Garden is a beautiful sight from beginning to end, and do a great take on modern Thai cuisine! A must visit!

This place is soooooooo cool. I went here for a friends birthday dinner on our way to the airport to fly to Melbourne for the weekend. As you can imagine we were already excited, but this place made it even better. It’s like a restaurant meets theme park. There is a huge entranceway full of lights and wooden carving and statues, and then big thai gardens with ponds and fish and waterfalls. There are little rock walks and heaps of foliage. The seating areas are spread all over the place which makes it feel almost like you;re in a private room, despite the restaurant being rather large. The menu is pretty big, but the waiters are more than happy to help out. And if all else fails — go with the old faithfully, they’re good. The restaurant is BYO wine, which makes it even better value. The only reason I don’t visit this place every week is because it;s so far away from me. An awesome place, fun for the whole family.

This place really lives up to it’s name — it is a secret garden! Totally hidden in amongst commercial Otahuhu, it is like walking into another world! Lovely little bridges over water features and gardens and flowers. Really a quite special place. No wonder our friends chose it as the venue for their wedding reception. The staff did a great job of catering for a huge wedding, and dealing with groups in the various rooms. Lovely typical Thai food, and lots of it! I was totally amazed at the strength of one of the waitresses who just picked up the 6 layered cake with no fuss and walked through the crowd with it to have it cut up…

As far as Thai food goes, this is the best. In fact, I must say this is my favourite restaurant in Auckland. Most Thai food is divine, but I struggle to finish the entire dish and feel extremely full/bloated/ill afterwards(this especially happens when eating thai curries due to the coconut milk, not so much with noodles/soups). Not the case with Secret Thai Garden. Something about their Thai curries is so light — lite coconut milk perhaps? — but yet does not compromise on the flavour(or divinity) of the food. I still wonder what it is that they do differently, but I am so so glad they do it. The best thing about this place is the restaurant. Behind a small humble little arched sign, on a non-descript street-side of Otahuhu, you will walk into what is, quite literally, a beautiful Thai garden. The place has been transformed completely, complete with little water features, incense, archways that resemble giant tusks, plants & South-East Asian sculptures and decorations. It is this which draws people from across Auckland for, not just the food, but the entire experience. It is truly the most beautiful place in Auckland to eat.
