Can’t beat the gelato at this place. Only get to go here when on holiday staying at my parents’ place, but I make the most of it by going every day when I’m here. So many flavours, and many are very original and one-​off (coconut yoghurt was amazing), I can have a different flavour every day. Also prices are really reasonable at $ 3.50 for a single. There is a nice park across the road, with views over the Tamaki estuary, and so I usually take my cone over there to eat it.

Spencers is a delightful local greengrocers, coffee bar and gelato shop, with a hand-​picked selection of fine goods such as jams, honey comb, cheeses, fresh bread and vegetables. The home-​made gelato is probably the best I have tasted ever, the feijoa tasting like REAL feijoa and the mint tasting like real mint. Because guess what — they are actually made out of REAL ingredients, not just sugar and artificial flavours! Yes! People still do that these days! Anyway, judging by the standard of their gelato, Spencers take their food seriously, so I am definitely keen to come back and try their coffee. Only downside is that they have quite limited seating and it is only outdoors, so it is more of a to-​go sort of joint.
