If you’re coming here for lunch then don’t — you’re in Grey Lynn. If you want nice food there are better options(Kokako, say) and if you want cheap food there are better options(like the bakery). Subway is further down the list than you need to go. If you’re coming here for dinner, or even a late dinner, then I think that’s more justified. Then the options are more limited and Subway, with its mid-range prices and mid-range quality, might just be what you’re after. Subway fills a niche in the Grey Lynn shops, and it does it well enough to justify doing so. It’s not great, but when is Subway ever? And it’s never terrible. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by a sandwich here.

I have to totally agree with the other review for Subway. Six inch subs are not enough(especially if you are having it for dinner), but I can never get through a foot long so I always feel ripped off for the price you pay for it. And the silly thing is Subway is not actually very healthy at all. But it tastes good, really good. The Grey Lynn Subway is pretty sweet, but as with all Subways it totally depends on who is making your sandwich. Most times I’ve gone here my sandwich is usually decent; no salad spilling out, not too much sauce, and a decent helping of salt and pepper. There was one person who worked there that could never cut the sub in half properly, which was really annoying. But that was quite a while ago a

I came here a few days ago wanting a bite to eat and was confronted by the bin directly outside the door. It didn’t exactly whet my appetite. I went in anyway and ordered a sandwich. My problem with Subway is that the 6 inch subs do not fill you up but the 12 inch are too much. If they did a 9 inch sub it would be perfect but I guess they have thought about about and come to the conclusion that they would not make enough money. I guess the main advantage of subway is that it’s reliable — if you want a good steak sub, that’s is what you are going to get. It’s also good that you can pick and choose as I find a lot of pre-packed sandwiches have mayonaise and I am not a fan of that stuff. Also it’s healthier than McDonalds and KFC. Overall, I think if you want a quick, cheap lunch that will fill you up till tea, then Subway is perfectly ok.
