When I finally have my own gorgeous beachfront house with swimming and spa pool out the back and 50 inch flat screen tv inside, I will pimp it all out with furniture from this place. I love the feel of the stuff in here. It has that kiwi bach type style with stressed and sanded wood, fresh colours and awesome designs. I could happily buy everything inside if it didn’t come with such a sad price tag. Definitely out of my price range. Most of the time I find myself thinking«really, that amount of money for a flaming chest of draws??» But in reality it is a gorgeous chest of drawers! Things that are in my price range include some cool accessories and things like table decorations and cool little surfy things to hang on the wall. So until I can afford that dream home I’ll have to stick to those little trinkets.

The Beach is a store that looks like a uppity gifts store sans gifts. What you are left with are mass produced items of furniture that are cheap replicas of modern antiques. Simply raise the prices threefold and tell people that all New Zealand beach houses look like this and you have yourself a store. In reality, New Zealand baches are full of musty, outdated and badly matched furniture from decades ago. The Beach is the inside of an interior design magazine like House and Garden. Most of the wicker baskets and beach chairs are not going to survive in a closed up, damp beach house. The best thing to do in this shop is take note of the designs and colours you like and replicate it via your nearest Salvation Army furniture, some sand paper and a lick of paint.

The Beach is a fantastic store, stylish homes, retail or other spaces would find the perfect pieces to adorn their rooms. The furniture is all wood, often what would be referred to as possessing rustic charm, while some is oriental in style, brightly coloured in blues and yellows. These are stand out pieces and in particular the draws and cabinets are amazing. They also offer some interesting storage options, shelves that look like ladders, ladders made from wood that serve no purpose but to hang from a wall and large boxes and baskets made from white washed cane. The Beach offers something really different, if you want you home to look Vogue Living worthy then this would be the place to come.

My wife’s cousin is quite rich and he has an amazing bach on Oneroa beach in Waiheke. I’d heard about this mythical home long before I moved to Auckland as my wife often talked about it — usually on grey, short days in January when Winter is really closing in on you. Anyway, my point is in that bach nearly all the furniture was purchased at The Beach. The sell all sorts of rustic and wooden stuff that will look amazing in your bach. They had this chest of drawers which was painted white but looked worn — as if it needed a lick of paint but the effect is really authentic. They also do tables, chairs, beds and fixtures for the home. It’s a lot different to what I grew up with — dark mahogany furniture which often makes you feel gloomy. What I probably love most about living in New Zealand is the summer vibe. You can buy some beautiful furniture for your home at The Beach which can really enhance the long hot days in summer.
