Stopped in for a lazy pint. Nice friendly service from the bar girl. Handed her a fifty and got $ 9 back though. Asked if she normally takes extravagant tips without asking. She apologized, I’ll let her off but, she said she’s been working since 5:00am for the Rugby World Cup. She noticed my brother didn’t have a drink and asked if he’d like anything. Good hospitality, good spot, and a decent sized smokers section. Great entertainment too… Watched a couple arguing about which one was gonna ride the bicycle home. Ahhh, lovers tiffs, always fun to watch rather than being the participant.

This is a nice little local on the corner of Dominion and Valley Roads in Mt Eden. Good Tuesday night it hosts a pub quiz with a loyal crowd. The drinks selection is wide and reasonably priced. The pizzas are only $ 12 on quiz nights and generous in terms of toppings. An apple crumble was a little weird in flavor and texture tonight(probably more due to a spice accident than design), but the other desserts may be worth a try. Great service.

Really like The Dominion. Used to be a regular when I lived in the area, and nice to come back. The décor is great and the staff are lovely, with a good range of bar snacks and food to eat. I would say it’s a little pricey for a Pub, but coming on the $ 12 pizza night on Tuesday is great value!

The dominion has been a long time favourite of ours, the atmosphere is quiet and pub’ish, the food was decent with good portions. It seems unfair to review it in this way but the dominion has changed. The new menu is perfectly fine, the service was good. Sitting next to Eden Park a mere 6 hours before the deciding match of the 2014 Bledisloe Cup was tempting fate, but I would have thought this is when the dominion should shine. We ordered the lunch special which was a burger on a bed of fries. Simple? sure, tasty? kinda … I got a grilled chicken which was nice but, I felt like it was a $ 5 Wendy’s burger. Grilled chicken with a slap of lettuce and some sauce splattered along the top. On the plus side the fries were golden. My wife’s beef burger was seasoned and tasted exactly like the beef you would pull from a taco, lucky she loves Mexican food, but I would have sent it back. I’m going to revisit this review when we give the dominion a second chance, but for now a 3 star(mostly based of previous experience) is all I can really give it.

Been here a few times now, for a few different occasions! As a 21st/function venue, it was great. We were upstairs and the space is really well set out for it. Seems like the staff are very accommodating with special requests, too. As a general bar/pub it’s alright. Pretty much what you’d expect for a nice-ish place near Eden Park.

The Dominion is probably about your best bet for a mid-week drink in this particular stretch of Dominion Road. Unless there’s a quiz on(Tuesday) the place usually isn’t too busy, although it picks up before a game at Eden Park as people stop in for a pre-match drink. They have the usual range of beer and wine and spirits, and they do food. Some of it can be a bit pricey, but the portions are pretty generous and the pizzas especially are a good deal. They usually have sport on the TV, but the volume is low enough that you can easily have a conversation. This isn’t your destination if you want some thumping bass and a boogie, but if you want to enjoy the company of other adults after a long day at work the Dominion can provide a venue.

The Dominion is a really nice pub in a cool looking old building. The interior is nice, clean and spacious, and it has a pretty sweet outdoor area too where you can enjoy the busy Dominion Road traffic. This pub is quite close to Eden Park, so it’s the perfect place for a few drinks before or after(or both) a big game. They also show all the major sporting events, and really get behind the local Auckland Blues rugby team. When there is a game on the place gets quite busy, especially with all the people who are making their way to the stadium. This pub boasts a good atmosphere in a primo location.

I really like the Dominion bar — we come here every Tuesday for the table quiz. I think the best thing about it is that it’s lively and there’s a good crowd. As regards the food, we got risotto cakes one night which were a little pricey for what was a small portion. I guess the Dominion is more geared towards the drink and atmosphere — they have a good selection of tap beers and ciders. Lately, I have been drinking the Recorderlig cider which is a strawberry flavour cider from Sweden. Providing you can pronounce it(good luck with that!) it’s a really pleasant drink on a hot day. Come along for the quiz on Tuesday night but be warned — there’s some clever teams in it and the questions can be tricky. Still it’s a good night out and the Dominion is definitely one of the better pubs in Auckland.

I used to frequent The Dominion for pub quizzes(Believe It Or Not) and that’s always a guaranteed good night. Unless maybe you don’t know anything about anything and neither do any of your friends, then, well, pub quiz probably isn’t for you. But if you’re feeling good about your general knowledge and trivia, make sure to book a table on Tuesday nights. They also add some personal flavour to the quiz, which might mean a prize for your team for the funniest drawing or limerick or something on a given topic. The pizza is good, the fries are good and unlike many pubs they have a vegetarian menu. Everybody wins.

Located on the corner of Valley Road and Dominion Road, The Dominion is the perfect place to meet friends for an after work drink, watch the rugby or share a meal with the family. The meals are fantastic, and the portions are huge. I’m a fan of their pizza range and must say last time I had their hamburger I fell in love. It was delicious, though definitely too big for me! Even my Dad had trouble finishing it, but it’s good to know you get your money’s worth! Heineken is on tap at The Dominion, though the bar has a large selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available, so there is definitely something for everyone. While there is plenty of indoor seating, my favourite spot at The Dominion is outside. There are about eight outside tables, two of which are really big and perfect for meals with a group of friends or the family. During summer it’s great to sit outside in the heat, but even in winter it’s not too bad as there are outdoor heaters above the tables too Tip: There is a room upstairs with a separate bar and outdoor area that can be hired for private functions. Having attended many 21st parties there, I can say with all honesty it is the perfect venue. Not to mention there is a curtain of fairy lights, so that’s a definite bonus!
