Porterhouse is my local when I feel like a steak. I’ve been there several times now and it’s always consistently good. While the menu is extensive, I’ve only ever had steak (why would you have anything else at a steak restaurant?). The meals are enormous though and that kind of limits your ability to sample the entrée or dessert menu. The steaks themselves are also huge. I’ve only had the eye fillet (200gm) or scotch fillet (300gm). I’d really like to try the aged sirloin or prime rib, but I know I’d never cope with 400 – 500 grams of meat.
There’s always plenty of room here and the staff are attentive and friendly, and know the menu well.

It is pricey but it is worth it! I had a scotch fillet and it was very tasty. I ordered with a garlic mash and mushroom sauce. I had bread as appetiser so my meal was very filling. The sticky date pudding was delicious! It just melts in your mouth. Next time I will skip the appetiser and go for mains. You will not be disappointed. Compliments to the service. They were very friendly and did a great job serving us that I even left them a tip. Definitely will be back again.

Clopping your heels on wooden floors as you enter a place really adds to the atmosphere you’d associate with a steakhouse. The layout is warm, inviting and spacious. The staff were friendly and attentive. For the very first time in N. Z, the person who ordered ribs got a hot finger bowl to clean the sauce off with. (Often they are cold or luke warm) The portions were huge! My tip is that you order a main meal and share between two (unless you’re big eaters!). You’ll save money and have room for their delicious desserts after.
All in all, a very good experience!

Very nice. The portions for mains are very big so just watch out but overall the food is really nice. The staff a nice too and the have good wine and offer kids meals on Tuesday nights for free when an adult orders their meal. Would come back again but on an even emptier stomach.
