Awesome views at the café. Great menu selection, but pricey. I went there with my partner, we had the Eggs Benedict Salmon, Crab Cake and two Flat Whites, the bill came to about NZ$ 43. The food was good though. Also, the Torpedo Navy Museum is next door, a small museum but why not visit it since it is in the vicinity. Once you’re done here, head up to North Head for more awesome views!

What a delightfully exquisite location to have a café I thought on the public holiday we ventured to this café. I had never really been down to Torpedo Bay before and had always thought there was not much here other than a navy museum and a jetty, how wrong I was. Torpedo café is right next to the Navy Museum, overlooking Torpedo Bay and also a short walk down to a beautiful jetty. If you’re doing an around the bay walk perhaps, a great stop off for a refreshment. The views are beautiful and scenic, and on a sunny day really show us how gorgeous Auckland is. I popped in for some cool drinks, as it was a super hot day, the salads and sandwiches at the counter looked delicious. There was lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the sunshine, which of course gets filled up fast on a busy day. Torpedo Café is a great spot to grab a meal, and then take a swim at the nearby beach afterwards.

This area has been begging for a café or bar or something for a very long time. Nestled behind the Torpedo Bay navy Museum, it gets all the best parts of Devonport. It’s quiet, it’s on the water and it’s in the sun. You would be very hard-pressed to find a location better than this. There is plenty of seating both inside and out, and on a nice day getting a seat outdoor can be quite the competition. Despite it being busy in the weekends, there doesn’t seem to be a big rush to move, which creates a really nice vibe. The menu is standard and coffee is good. The staff are also nice, attentive and relaxed. Being licensed, it’s a great place for breakfast, lunch, or a few afternoon drinks. A great place to chill.

Torpedo Bay Café sits at the very end of the Devonport waterfront and caters mostly to visitors to the adjoining Torpedo Bay Navy Museum but also to anyone that wants to enjoy their coffee or brunch looking across the harbour and back over to the city — the view is as good as it gets. I found the staff friendly and the menu fairly standard albeit perhaps a tad pricey but if the extra proceeds go to the museum(not sure about this) then its worth it! The café is licensed and there’s outdoor seating with ample sun-cover, I’ll definitely be back for an afternoon wine in the sun after a look through the museum.
