Do they do food here?! Was too much into the wine. Met the owners who are lovely. The problem with this place is it gets too many young 18 year olds in here. Unsure how they sort that situation out but they have amazing wines and friendly staff. Music is great and it is best to get out on the balcony.

Good place, food is really good & good music too. We’ve had two of our work parties here and everyone had enjoyed it. Great for large groups and just to have a dance. 8⁄10 for me

The Tyler St rooftop bar is the PERFECT location this winter. It may be outside, but it is prime location for that afternoon sun to hit and avoids that nasty wind which strikes at ground level. In fact, I just had lunch up there and I think my cheek may have a wee sunburn now… Not only is the location and atmosphere great, they were able to cater for my(some may say annoying) vegetarian needs. I ordered the chicken salad, but they managed to spice it up as a vege meal and it was delisssh. I would definitely recommend this spot for a Friday ‘working lunch ft wine’

We went there with friends just for drinks. It was nice because the place is big and you have enough space even with a large group of friends. We could not comment on the food as we did not eat there.

Seriously: you can not beat Tyler street rooftop on a sunny day! ITSTHEBEST! There aren’t many spots in Auckland with those beautiful harbor views. I love it. Tyler st has recently redesigned their menu so i was very excited to give some of the new dishes a whirl. I can highly recommend the chicken dumplings w/Black vinegar & mung beans. YUM. As always the pizzas are exceptional also, the new Mexican chicken(Chorizo, peppers, onions, smoked paprika, coriander, lime) one is outstanding especially washed down with the Soho Westwood Rose. If you haven’t tried this wine i would get amongst, the 2014 vintage is amazing and comes from Waiheke island. The roof top is the place to go! I’ll be there over the summer days!

If you want to have a drink. With harbour views. And the weather is fine. GOHERE It’s very simple as the rooftop area is perfect for it! I haven’t had a proper meal here but the fried chicken is great and the meals have always looked pretty tops. Visitors — check it out as it gives you a nice Auckland rooftop experience in the heart of Britomart

Looking for a place to have drinks on a Summery day, look no further. Tyler St’s rooftop bar is the ideal spot w big outdoor sofas and beautiful views of the harbour. Just make sure it’s not too windy! I’ve never eaten there but they do have a rather extensive menu too. Keep an eye out on their Facebook page for events too — I’ve been to a great comedy show there as well as a few gigs. Also, worth noting that you can hire out the entire rooftop for private functions too(it’ll come with a potentially hefty price though).

Young, backpacker type staff with not much of a clue. This place started off with promise when it opened but has swiftly gone downhill. Just had a drink then the brusque manager(?) told us we had to leave the upstairs because they were closing. It was only 3 on a Sunday so that was a little weird. Just kind of a sad place really.

My wife and I had discussed flying overseas to celebrate her landmark birthday. A year out from the big day, she had decided against this. It left me in a bit of a quandary. My wife is a private person. Amiable and extremely affable, she’s not the type who likes people to fuss over her. I googled venues for hire in Auckland for her birthday and Tyler Street was one that came up. I had been there once. I had no idea that there was an upstairs garden bar. Having looked around at other venues and their locations, Tyler St really ticked all of the boxes for our requirements. Even though I hadn’t seen the upstairs area, I took a leap of faith and commenced booking the venue for said party. The staff at Tyler St took the booking and let me know the requirements for hiring the upstairs bar area. Easy peasy. I popped in about a week before the party and met the staff. The day staff were really friendly and accommodating. They answered my questions and knew what they were talking about. It was obvious that these guys turn up to do a good job. As far as I was concerned, they were still ticking all the boxes and it wasn’t even my booking night yet. I had arrived at lunch time on Friday. The weather was gorgeous so all of the tables were full with people meeting for business lunches. Despite being so busy, the staff still ensured that I was being looked after. I have to hand it to them. After booking and paying the deposit for the party, there really wasn’t much for me to do except organise the birthday cake, a music playlist and some photos for a powerpoint presention. I ended up paying the full amount for the minimum spend as I didn’t want guests to have to spend their own money. If the bartab was exceeded I was going to pay for that too. Come the night, everyone and especially my wife loved the upstairs garden bar area. The food was absolutely delectable and the drinks were superb. I kept an eye on the tab and an hour out from our finish time, we still had loads left on the tab. Surprising really, considering that we had an open bar. The pizza’s were really good. The fried chicken, duck spring rolls, goats cheese it was all just so dee-lish. One suggestion for people using the upstairs area as a party venue, bring your own music. I had made a playlist which I hooked up to the sound system. 60’s, 70’s and 80’s classics that went down a treat. I would recommend this place to anyone. We were lucky to have a clear night. It was chilly and this was offset by presence of gas heaters which kept everyone well heated. Thankfully the weather was clear and not windy. The staff on the night were just fantastic. It was such a great thing to just turn up and not have to lift a finger. Value for money? How much would you pay for a perfect party? That’s pretty much what I got and I believe that it was money well spent. I would book another private function there in a heartbeat. I’ll be taking my wife back there again and again. Thanks again to the team at Tyler St Garage. The birthday girl and all of her guests had a fantastic evening. Top effort.

Delicious food, delicious beer. I had fried chicken for lunch and it was more than enough, my friend had the seafood plank and thought it was delicious. The pizzas at the table next to us looked great, and I think there is a two for one deal on Tuesdays… Its a tad expensive I guess, but on average for a britomart venue. Every time I’ve been here it has been a bit loud — possibly because of the concrete floors, walls and high ceilings — so I wouldn’t choose this place for a romantic dinner. But a night out with mates — definitely.

Tyler St Garage is essentially a bar that does food bloody well. Located in an old«garage» in Britomart, it’s lucky enough to have a rooftop garden bar that overlooks the harbour. It’s a great spot to while away a lazy Sunday afternoon with one of their delicious cocktails or hard shakes. I’ve tried their pizzas, salads and smaller tasting plates — think tapas but on a slightly larger scale. All have been delicious, especially an incredible Asian-inspired tuna salad that sadly is no longer on the current menu. The burgers are also famous — basically this menu is great for sharing or simple, easy staples done well. The wait staff are ridiculously good-looking and helpful, which makes dining here a pleasure. Check it out next time you’re heading to or from Vector, or looking for somewhere airy in Britomart. And make sure you head up to the rooftop garage before it fills up!

When we first walked in(about 6pm on a Saturday night) we only saw the downstairs area. We were expecting a bar, not a restaurant, so it all looked a bit formal until we got upstairs and got the wow thing going. There’s a big view over the harbour, comfortable seats, a fireplace, a bar and an atmosphere you’ll want to linger in. You will have to book ahead if you want to get into this space later in the evening. I ordered a Thai Flurry cocktail and the lamb ribs small plate and if there’s an alcohol heaven and a food heaven, I straddled them both at the Tyler Street Garage.

What a sexy cool place. A friend of mine raved to me about their pizzas so I decided to take my girlfriends out for dinner there on a Saturday night. When we got to our table on the second level we noticed that it was completely packed and found out that the All Blacks vs France game was playing live on the flatscreens. None of us are rugby fans at all and we had absolutely no idea that the game was on nor that we would be having dinner in the midst of drunken roaring rugby fans and the stench of beer. I had called ahead that day to confirm our booking and I kinda wish I had gotten a head’s up that the place would be more like a sports bar that night because in all honesty if I had known I probably would have chosen to come another night. I’m not sure if the guy taking my booking assumed that I was a huge rugby fan and was booking a table so I could get a good spot to watch the game(never assume!). unfortunately that was not the case at all. Especially if it’s a female calling I don’t think it could hurt to inform them that the game will be playing there because trying to have a girls’ night at a sausage fest is um kinda awkward and we are on the adaptable side. Though on my behalf I’ll be checking the sports section of the Herald from now on. Anyways, we ordered a margarita pizza, tempura sliders and fried chicken and all of it was SO good. The sound of our nomnomnoming drowned out the game(I honestly can’t even remember who won, probably the All Blacks) and I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu because it all sounds so good.

Question: Is there anything better than drinking delicious local wine and beer in large, converted industrial warehouses? Answer: Yes, when you discover that said large, converted industrial warehouses have small upstairs sundecks overlooking the harbour. And wouldn’t you know it, Tyler Street Garage had it all. All I did was drink(both the wine and the view), but if first impressions can be trusted, this one left a pretty damn good one. So go on — rub elbows with the hip kids of Britomart, drink an Aperol spritz or Negroni to stay on trend, settle in to the relaxed post-work atmosphere, and pray for sunshine so that you can make the most of that rooftop patio!

Everyone has those go-to places that they take their visiting friends to knowing they will impress — this is mine. Tyler St Garage appeared as part of Britomart’s amazing makeover, making Auckland 100 x cooler. With a New York warehouse loft kind of feel inside and a brick façade, you know it’s cool before you even really experience it. Head up the stairs and out on to the sundeck and you’ll be stopped in your tracks by the beautiful view of the Auckland Harbour and the glistening water. Enjoy delicious meals and tasting platters, paired with amazing cocktails and some of New Zealand’s best wines. The service is relaxed, professional and friendly, which perfectly suits the hip and fun vibes this place can’t help but emit. Tyler St Garage has daily and weekly specials on food and drink and often has awesome entertainment and events, so head to their website to check it out.

I love Tyler Street Garage for the fact that it’s taken something that Auckland has far too many of — car parking buildings in prime locations — and turned it into something cool! Owing to the building’s history as a parking garage, the place is industrial-styled with exposed brick and brushed metal surfaces — fashionable but unpretentious. It’s a sociable space that’s great for catching up with mates. The pizzas are what you want here — the wild boar pizza is particularly tasty, and goes well with a cold drop. Stay later and the place pumps a bit when the DJ takes over!

Tyler Street garage oozes coolness. The industrial styled bar and eatery has a fantastic food and drinks menu with an atmosphere to match. The large open space downstairs is perfect for meeting up with larger groups of friends and on the last Saturday of each month is used to host the Art and Design Market Day from 11am until 3pm where you can find unique prints, ceramics, cushions and other textiles. Coming here on a summers afternoon and sitting outside on the Quay Street entrance with something icy cold is a great way to spend an afternoon at Britomart. My favourite space is the rooftop bar which has a pretty awesome view of the docks and harbour. It doesn’t matter what time of the year, whether a balmy summers evening or a winters night(there is plenty of gas heating up on the rooftop) this is one of the best places to hang out in Auckland I think.
