Came here to get my favorite pair of Levi’s taken out at the waistline after having just had a kid. Instead, I came to endure a few minutes of insults about putting on weight, apparently. After being asked «How much weight have you put on» and replying accordingly, I then asked how long the alteration would take. The man replied «OH it’s going to take a long time! We have to add a whole 2 inches!»
Hold. My. Testicles. 2 inches onto a size 10. Why don’t you just hire a semi and wheel me away right now.
I pop in the next day and $ 38.40 later, they’re finished. Did they match the fabric (black denim, quite rare apparently)? Nope. Was the stitching done well? Nope.
I will not be coming back here again. I took them into another Auckland tailor, paid the same price and got them fixed beautifully.

Hmmm. I’ve never been a huge fan of places like Look Smart, only because you usually get better service from owner-operated places, and their situation in malls means they have to get a high turnover to make sure they are making enough to pay their rent so they may not be able to spend as much time as they should on fixing things.
Sadly I was proved right, when I urgently needed a dress repaired over a weekend and dropped it into this one. I explained quite carefully what I wanted, and although the man at the counter didn’t write it down, I was hopeful that he would remember. Unfortunately when I came back they hadn’t done what I had asked, and were a bit shirty when I asked them to fix it. However, they did half-fix it, enough for me to be OK about it, and did it within 15mins, so at least they tried to rectify their mistake. However, overall it wasn’t a great experience and there’s too much competition for this kind of service so no reason for me to go back.
