I think the best sushi and sashmi, would love if they had a more seating space… They served me the most perfect warm sake… Love it…

We had: — Kumiage Homemade Fresh Tofu — Gyu-Tataki — Salmon yuan Yaki — Tori no Karaage — Today’s Sashimi Dish — Asparagus Tempura with Salt — Rice — Miso soup — Mike’s organic pilsner beer It was absolutely delicious and truly authentic. Probably best I’ve eaten in NZ. Atmosphere was a little industrial but had a definite style at the same time. Only negative thing was that they gave one of our tofu dishes to the wrong customer so we had to wait quite a long time for it to come out. Not a major issue at all, though.

The food’s pretty solid, especially given the location. I can see it being the best Japanese food in the city – there’s like NO Japanese food in Wellington. The sashimi’s pretty fresh, but because of that the variety is also limited. You can’t really get high variety unless you get fish constantly shipped in, and I don’t think restaurants here can charge the high prices that some restaurants do in cities like, say, NYC. The salmon chirashi bowl is pretty good. It uses a combo that is tried and true – salmon and avocado – and adds some extra flavor to it with pieces of tamago(egg). No dress code. Pretty affordable. Great lunch spot.

Best Japanese food in town. Homemade tofu!!! We had the agedashi. Really fresh sashimi and nigiri with very good sumeshi. They even have natto maki. Dashi broth is homemade and delicious. Had it with rice and udon noodles. Try the grilled conger eel if it’s available. Lightly battered tempura that wasn’t greasy. Nice spartan dining room, letting the food speak for itself. Real Japanese food for the tradionalists.
