Dom-Beisl

Ein großes Lob an das Dom-​Beisl. Obwohl wir erst zu später Stunde kamen, fast keine Leute mehr im Lokal waren und die Küche schon geputzt war, durften wir dennoch bleiben.
Unsere Gruppe von sechs wurde flott bedient — gut, es war ja sonst niemand mehr da, das Essen war hervorragend und die Weinauswahl auf Empfehlung des Kellners durchaus überraschend im Positiven.

Das Lamm — ein zartes Gedicht
Das Schnitzel — ein Traum — wir wollten uns tatsächlich noch eins als Nachspeise bestellen; da hat man uns aber nicht ernst genommen
Die Valrhona-​Variationen, speziell der kleine Kuchen, innen soft und extrem lecker, ein gelungener Abschluss.

I was actually really surprised at how great this place was. My sister and I pride ourselves in basically being locals in Vienna, given that we’ve gone almost every year to visit our grandma for the last 10 years. However, sometimes appetite and hunger drives you into places you thought you’d never go. Enter Dom-​Beisl. We figured it would be outrageously expensive, and low quality food, given the proximity to all the touristy things. We were more than pleasantly surprised with the authentic Austrian cuisine, with authentic Viennese people. German was spoken, cigarettes were smoked, and wine (at 12:00 noon) was drunk. Wir waren durch Zufall hier, nettes kleines Restaurant in einer Gasse hinter dem Stephansdom. Wir haben gemütlich draußen gesessen in einer kleinen Gasse.
Das Essen war frisch zubereitet und hat hervorragen geschmeckt. Vorweg gab es Gebäck mit Butter und einen Gruss aus der Küche. Meine Frau hatte Lammrücken und ich den Tafelspitz.
Es gibt typisch Wienerische Schmankerl und feine Sachen wie Seeteufel.
Sehr zu empfehlen, auch die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich.

My husband and I chose this restaurant because it was on the list of recommendations from our hotel, who made our reservation for us. That was a bonus, because when we arrived the server greeted us in English and provided us English menus. We were seated at an outdoor table on the side street of the restaurant — a great place to watch people walk by without the noise of the traffic driving by. Our reservation was earlier than we’d hoped, but it ended up being a bonus because we spent several hours there, enjoying each course. We never felt rushed or ignored — the service was fantastic.
Our server recommended excellent Austrian wine for our meal, and offered us a nice Austrian sparkling wine to start our meal. The menu choices were fantastic — a nice blend of traditional Austrian fare blended with more mainstream options. We had a lovely amuse bouche, followed by a starter of stuffed squash blossoms enhanced by a slice of rabbit and some pâté. For our main, my husband had the schnitzel and I had the halibut. Both were perfectly prepared. I had a wonderful apricot dessert that was a highlight of my trip.
I think this restaurant is wonderful — the outside tables were evenly spaced to provide privacy at our table while still enjoying the buzz of people around us. Highly recommended for a nice dining experience while in Vienna.

I was skeptical to go here based on the photos posted – the exterior looks a bit like a bar but was told its a special restaurant and great food. We were visiting Vienna with 2 other couples. One night we went out with our children and this night we went out without them. The food and wine were excellent. I had the schnitzel and it was tasty. i also love Austrian wines and they have a great selection. The atmosphere is charming and bright – nothing like the exterior – and the service was perfect. It is right in the heart of some pretty touristy places (just behind St Stephen’s Cathedral) but is a local spot and we were the only Americans in the restaurant – gotta love Unilocal

Das Essen war köstlich die Getränkeauswahl war gut, der Service war jedoch furchtbar wir mussten ewig warten bis wir die Karte bekamen und es wurde den restlichen Abend nicht bessser!

Gutes Beisl hinterm Dom. Mehr Beisl geht eh nimmer. Mittagsmenüs, gute Wiener Küche, auch die Weine sind teilweise sehr in Ordnung, der servierende Chef groß und nett, die Einichting rustikal, resopal, der gemütliche Schankraum hats mir besonders angetan und manchmal findet sich dort vorne so eine Runde zam, da gehts dann rund, Runde um Runde und man könnte meinen, man sitzt mitten in Wien in an leiwanden Beisl.
