La Norma

Leider bekommt das La Norma nicht mehr als 2 Sterne von mir. Wenn ich né Pasta bestelle und es kommen dann Barillanudeln mit Barillatomatensauce für 12 Euro frage ich mich schon was es da hat. Nix Besonderes– besser man bleibt zu Hause und kocht sich selber. Ach ja– Mozarella war noch reingebröckelt in die Sauce– wow!
Also da gibt es weit bessere Italiener und wenn man gute Pasta will geht man einfach zum Vapiano ums Eck– da ist es 100Mal besser.
Mich wird das Restaurant nicht mehr sehen. Der Kellner war zwar sehr nett, aber dafür sitzt man zu beengt.
Alles in allem nicht zu empfehlen.

Ich bin selten so unfreundlich bis unverschämt bedient wurden. Sowas gehört sich einfach nicht. Der Höhepunkt waren für mich die Finger des Kellners an meinem Essen. Ich kann diese Lokalität nicht empfehlen.

Came here after not getting in to Gasthause Poschl around the corner for lunch. Décor was strange to say the least. Wasn’t looking for Italian & didn’t expect much. So kept it simple/​safe. Good thing cause the minestrone was very average. But the pizza was a pleasant surprise. Thin crust. Freshly made. 9 out of 10 in terms of pizzas I’ve had.

Very standard italian restaurant. Would not go there for a special event. Seems to serve more for its lunch menus which are a good deal if meal matches your rate. Soup and main meal.

We were walking by, looked cute so we stopped. Really fun spot, we got the last table with a view outside. Our pizza’s were delicious, the wine pour was really good. We enjoyed our dinner, and the service was friendly and good as well.

I found La Norma by accident when I was walking around sans a map and a destination. I took a right turn into a beautifully-​looking street on the right side of Stephansdom and before I knew it, I was looking at a tiny, quiet little square with a couple of tables standing in the middle.
I decided to sit down when I saw that they served Prosecco Aperol for a couple of euros. La Norma also appealed to me because there weren’t any tourists walking around and the people who occupied the tables looked like normal Viennese citizens (a 30-​something couple with a cute toddler, a lone suite-​clad business man and a middle aged man who appeared to be the owner or something along those lines).
I sat down, took out my book, ordered my prosecco aperol and enjoyed the awesome atmosphere. It was quiet, calm, normal and I loved it. People passing by greeted the man who appeared to be the owner and the waiter was nice which I appreciated.
I didn’t go inside so I can’t say anything about the interior but the exterior of La Norma looked very warm and inviting.
After 10 minutes or so of my being there, the table next to mine got occupied by two 60-​something ladies who ordered lasagna and a salad. I didn’t have anything to eat but the dishes the ladies ordered looked really great, so maybe the food’s worth a try as well.
In general, I fell in love with La Norma and I hope I’ll get to visit a second time during my next stay in Vienna!

So: an Italian joint run by Egyptians in the very heart of Alte Wien. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, no?
Miraculously, it’s not; if anything, it’s a little blessing in the midst of a bustling, touristy area. La Norma serves remarkably fresh, tasty, thoughtful food, as traditional and simple as if Mamma herself were in the kitchen. The cosy interior is dominated by the colorful murals that cover every surface; the outdoor tables benefit from the lovely little square on which the restaurant sits. Only a block or so from the busy, hideously overpriced Kartnerstrasse, La Norma goes on its own way serenely, serving out generous portions at good prices, topped by friendly, sympa service. What better way to while away a late summer evening than to have a glass or two of Montepulciano d’Abbruzi, a hearty plate of prosciutto over perfect melon, and a little tagliatelli that would not be out of place in the center of Rome?

the pizzaria la norma is a tiny little restaurant close to stephansplatz. prices are average for this area. I only tasted the pizza which was quiet good, but kind of oily.
what i really liked is the onl funishing and the rustic ambience. the walls are all over with paintings reminding on old italian style, which is pretty cool! the service is very nice and not intrusive.

Die Pizza war ok, aber nicht überragend.

Vorsicht! Die Pizza hier ist zum Abgewöhnen. Da gibt es viel bessere Lokale in Schlagdistanz, wie z.B. Da Capo oder wenn es schnell und billig sein muss dann ist auch Pizza Bizi besser.
Meiner Meinung nach eine einfache Touristenfalle in guter Location.

Eine sehr nette Pizzeria im wunderhübschen Franziskanerplatz, unmittelbar neben meinem geliebten Tramezzini-​Laden. Der Schanigarten ist sehr schön und gemütlich — klar, er liegt ja auch auf einem der schönsten Plätze der Stadt -, aber auch bei Schlechtwetter ist’s hier sehr nett: Die Inneneinrichtung ist verspielt und gemütlich. Die quasi-​klassizistischen Malereien grenzen an Kitsch, sind aber doch durchaus nett anzusehen.
Die Küche ist ebenfalls sehr gut: Egal ob Pizza oder Pasta, hier schmeckt’s ausgezeichnet. Auch die Preise sind fair: sechs bis neun Euro kostet die Pizza, acht bis elf die Spaghetti mit den verschiedenen Saucen. Einzig die Getränke sind leider etwas zu teuer geraten.
Also eigentlich alles sehr, sehr nett. Warum ich trotzdem nicht allzu oft hier bin? Wegen der schrecklichen Musik: Aus unzähligen Lautsprechern plärrt hier Ö3, wohl der Gipfel der musikalischen Geschmacklosigkeit. Kein Problem, wenn man an einem warmen Sommerabend draußen im Schanigarten sitzt, aber drinnen ist’s fast unerträglich. Immerhin sind die Kellner sehr nett und freundlich und stellen die Musik auf Wunsch gerne leiser.

Aufgefallen ist mir die Cantinetta La Norma schon vor Jahren, seither bin ich oft daran vorbei spaziert und nun war ich endlich hier Naja Das Lokal ist sehr klein, es gibt grad mal 8 Tische, wenn ich mich nicht verzählt habe; die Wände sind mit Ornamenten bemalt, die bei genauerem Hinsehen eher dilettantisch wirken; die Küche befindet sich in einer Ecke hinter einem Tresen, was phasenweise zu Geruchsbelästigung führen kann. Auf der Speisekarten finden sich die üblichen Pizze und Pasta-​Gerichte. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich, ich habe allerdings statt dem bestellten Risotto mit Shrimps ein Risotto mit Meeresfrüchten bekommen — das gut war, ich war zu faul zum Reklamieren. Der Pizzaboden meiner Begleitung hätte ruhig um einiges knuspriger sein können. Das Tiramisù hat mich auch nicht aus den Socken gehaut, ich habe schon wesentlich bessere gegessen (und glaubt mir, mein Tiramisù-​Erfahrungsschatz ist GROSS). Ich werde hier nicht mehr her kommen.

We came here for a late lunch at 4:00pm based on a Rick Steve’s recommendation. This Italian restaurant is located near the Cathedral on Singerstrasse. Outside of Italy, this is the next best thing. We live in Los Angeles and haven’t found any Italian restaurant that compares to this! That’s how good this place is. We were warmly greeted and served promptly by Hany. Rick Steves says that Paco is the owner, bur it looks like the 3 brothers run this place. We asked for recommendations and told him that we were open to ANYTHING. He STRONGLY recommended the Filetto La Norma and the Pollo alla toscano. The Filetto La Norma is listed as Rindslungenbraten with mushroom sauce & rice. The not so heavy cream based sauce was out of this world. Maybe Marsala, maybe a fusion of Viennese & Italian. Very tasty. The steak was perfectly prepared at medium. The Pollo alla toscano was prepared in au gratin dish, oozing with Gorgonzola, fresh mushrooms & spinach and swimming in a decadent tomato cream sauce.
My daughters are a little more conservative and got Tortellini Spinaci and the Margherita pizza. The tortellini was excellent. The pizza was ok. Really yummy! No time to travel to Italy, come here!
