Matcha Komachi

Leckeres Essen (vegane Specials), große Auswahl für Veganer, nettes Personal, stylisches Ambiente — sehr sympathisch! Komme wieder :)

Die Deko hier ist ansprechend, das Personal freundlich und die Karte birgt Japanische Gerichte die man nicht so häufig sieht.
Find es gut, dass es Specials gibt die sich nach der Jahreszeit orientieren. Nach langem überlegen habe ich mich für den Gyu-​don entschieden (Rindfleisch mit Zwiebeln auf Reis). Die Portion war riesig! Geschmacklich war es ok, hat mich jetzt aber nicht von den Socken gehaut. Meine Begleitung hatte den Meeresfrüchtesalat, der gut geschmeckt hat. Neben Thuna Sashimi und Krebsfleischersatz befanden sich auch Shrimps darin.
Das Ambiente und die Dekoration ist sehr nett und Japanisch gestaltet, man kann sogar einige Sachen die ausgestellt sind kaufen.
Ich war von dem letzten Matcha den ich hier hatte leider nicht begeistert und meide es eher Matcha woanders zu bestellen als im Cha no ma, weil sie den mit Abstand am besten in Wien zubereiten, aber das Essen würde ich nochmal ausprobieren und etwas anderes bestellen.

Ok, Matcha Komachi seems to be a good place to convert even the most hopeless case into a fan of Japanese cuisine. Once again I was grateful to Unilocal,because it helped me identify it as — for some intangible Unilocal-​reason — just right for my next attempt to finally get to like the cuisine of the Far East. Maybe because of the selection of Onigiris, that seemed low-​risk, I thought at least I will not stay hungry. But my sushi tasted delicious all of a sudden, and the rice was sticky in a beautiful way. Well that’s as much a novice can tell about it. I even tried to intuitively use the sticks, after embarrassingly asking for knife and fork as a back-​up. Due to my general strong dislike of soy (the sauce is ok), I must remain picky about the dishes I can order, but I really want to discover further on what makes Japanese food so beloved. I know it is a shame that I already haven’t, but you need the right time and place for everything.
Looking at the photos, I did imagine Matcha Komachi to be bigger, but its relatively small size won’t bother you. The space is used just lovely, and you get enough of it, plus the bar is constructed to offer some extra seats in a comfy way. My first thought was: a perfect «Tageslokal». Even that space-​saving sink in front of the kitchen instead of a full-​blown washroom is charming somehow. maybe because I like to take a peak into the kitchen if I can.
The service was alright really, and if anyone of the staff isn’t smiling excessively, I would ascribe it to a culture difference rather than lack of kindness. The Mochi for Dessert was also an experience. Sure i would have filled it with chocolate instead of beans or nuts, but I did kind of like it. Now I read people in Japan often suffocate on Mochis because they are sticky and hard to swallow — that might be another argument for chocolate filling — sure they would go down the throat better. All in all, I want to go soon again!

Nachdem wir etwas neues ausprobieren wollten haben wir uns für einen echten Japaner entschieden und wurden nicht enttäuscht.
Anders als beim typischen Buffet Asiaten werden die Speisen frisch zubereitet und sind sehr lecker, die Portionen sind auch ziemlich groß, also wird man gut satt.
Der Preis ist auch ok, dafür dass es wirklich frisch schmeckt ist der Aufpreis zu anderen Asiaten wirklich in Ordnung.

Ein etwas kühles Lokal, aber mit sehr freundlicher Bedienung und den besten Onigiris, die ich je in Wien gegessen habe. Die Matcha-​Süßigkeiten sind auch nicht zu verachten.

A charming Japanese restaurant close to the city centre. The noodles are great, and there’s a wide range of onigiri on offer, which seem to be their speciality. Be sure to pick up one of their ‘frequent visitor cards’ and get a stamp for each onigiri you enjoy.
With friendly staff, good value, and a nicely decorated shop, this restaurant became my regular choice for lunches and evening snacks when I’m after delicious Japanese food and appreciate the quick service.

Ich bin sehr begeistert vom Matcha Komachi. Nicht nur der namensgebende Matcha ist hervorragend. Auch die Speisen, die ich probiert habe, waren ausnahmslos super. Als nächstes versuche ich eine Bentobox — und freue mich weiterhin, dass es so viel Veganes auf der Karte gibt. Auch ein plus: die Öffnungszeiten, die schönen Tische, und ganz klar die Onigiri-​Auswahl. Es gibt W-​Lan, das Personal ist sehr freundlich, es ist gut erreichbar und liegt mitten im japanophilen Hotspot im 4. Bezirk.

Loved this place. Was traveling in Vienna and my kids were craving onigiri. Quality and prices were great. So glad we found this place. We went there twice in three days for our kids’ lunch.
