Pyrabar

The dish I’ve had was extremely salty and oily. It was hard to eat. I’m very disappointed because the reviews were pretty good.

Cocina polaca, increíblemente rica e increíblemente barata para la calidad de los platos. Muy buena elaboración, súper rápido y los precios son de risa.
5 estrellas sin dudas.

Prueben las cacerolas de papas! Buen precio y delicioso sabor! Con una cerveza tirada queda perfecto! Buena onda, buena atención, poca gente, todo delicioso y buen precio! Súper recomendable.

If you see Pyrabar from the outside it looks pretty ordinary and «touristy» to me. So nothing new there. BUT. The food is very good and the portions are generous. Cabbage, potato pancakes and dumplings were all yummy. The customer service is ok and you can ask for an english menu. Prices are cheap so your wallet will thank you. Tip: You are supposed to order your meal at the cashiere. Didn’t realize this at first.

Ahoj und: Wow! Was soll ich sagen? Per Zufall bin ich in die Pyrabar gestolpert und: einfach nur lecker! Spezialität der Pyrabar sind «placki» (sprich: «Platzki»), Kartoffelpuffer. Und die gibt es in allen Variationen. Meist deftig, aber auch vegetarisch und mediterran. Und süß. Nicht zu vergessen: Aufläufe mit Kartoffeln und weiteren Extras. Ich habe beides probiert und fand beide Gerichte spitze!
Dazu gibt es ein hübsches Ambiente, das zuweilen an eine Mensa erinnert, aber lustig gestylt ist und mit eigenem Geschirr (im hauseigenen Design) aufwarten kann!
Der Mensa-​Eindruck mag schließlich auch daher kommen, dass die Preise — auch für lokale Verhältnisse — sehr moderat sind. Placki kosten im Durchschnitt ca. PLN 12, was ca. EUR 3 entspricht. Nimmt man noch eine kleine Beilage dazu, wird man in der Regel mehr als satt.
Auch wenn wir abends hier waren, kann ich mir gut vorstellen, dass man hier auch ordentlich einen Mittagsschmaus einnehmen kann. Ob Student, Tourist oder zum Business –Lunch, ich denke, da bleiben keine Wünsche offen.
Einzige Voraussetzung natürlich: man muss Kartoffeln mögen! Ohne die geht da nichts!
Ich gehe auf jeden Fall wieder hin, sobald ich in der Stadt bin!
PS: Auf der Karte steht übrigens, wie lange die Küche für das jeweilige Gericht ungefähr zur Zubereitung braucht.

What a wonderful find!!! I LOVED this place. Just as you think theres only rubbish tourist places, you find a cute but quirky, cool but relaxed café-​style place with just amazing food. Service is fast, efficient and super cheap. We had sliced potatoes with chicken, potato pancakes with goulash, potato dumplings with sauerkraut but the star of the show and the dish I am still thinking about now… crispy, potato pancakes with pork in a dreamy forest mushroom sauce. I cried alittle when I finished it and had to leave on my last day in Gdansk. So so so good. The also do a yummy fresh apple juice too. Dirt cheap, couldn’t have been happier!

The place specializes in potato dishes, has very good food and is bloodily cheap. I recommend it very much if you prefer a real polish food that real polish people eat, and do not want to experience an expensive, average food restaurant aiming at the foreign tourists. You do not need to eat another bagel or penne with salmon in Poland, really, we have much better things to offer :)
