Meh. I have had some great meals all over Portugal, but this was just ok. The portions are enormous, but the menu options and flavours are dull. The service is excellent and I heard staff working well in English, French and Spanish as well as Portuguese. The prices are a bit high compared to Lisbon, but as a vacation island that should be expected. It seems to fill up past 7:30, while some nearby restaurants remained largely empty. Overall, not bad but I’m not in a hurry to return.

On vous conseille de prendre les poissons grilles ! Cabillaud grille avec pomme de terre et sabre noir grille ! Accompagné de légumes vapeur avec un demi vin blanc maison et assiette de crudités ! L addition est plus que raisonnable ! 36 € a deux ventres bien rempli !

Why are the Portuguese obsessed with London? In Lisbon, there is Pensao Londres, a well-​known low-​cost lodging option in the Bairro Alto. Here in Funchal on the island of Madeira is Restaurante Londres, or London Restaurant. Is it because of all the tourists from the UK, or is it because their histories are intertwined?
Restaurante Londres, a short walk up from the Jardim Municipal, or municipal garden, is worth checking out. There are other restaurants ringing the municipal garden area, and on its side streets, that display fewer menu options, nicer décor, and higher prices. Here, the menu displayed on the exterior of the restaurant indicates a boatload of food options at reasonable prices. And you just might find this restaurant because it’s the busiest eating establishment on this street.
This is the Portuguese equivalent of comfort food at its best. Large and satisfying portions of fish, meat, or poultry can be had with large boiled potatoes, salad, vegetables or rice, and a bread basket. Their turkey breast entrée was very good. The service is efficient, and even friendly compared to what is encountered in other tourist weary Portuguese restaurants. Another thing is that there many locals in here. That’s a good sign.
Remember, the cheese, olives, deli meats, and pates presented to you on a platter are not there because they are being nice. Therefore, if you don’t want to pay for these items, on an individual basis, push the plate away without nibbling on the items and learn basic Portuguese for «I don’t want this,» or just motion with your hands that you want the plate removed, as in «get the extra God damn plate off my table!»
Seriously, Londres is a great little restaurant. It’s also walkable from most hotels in the center of Funchal and a good value to boot.

Muito bom rest e preços acessiveis. já lá fui por várias vezes e nunca tive queixas de nada recomendo principalmente a hora de jantar sendo este espaço no centro da cidade na hora de almoço é muito procurado

Ich kann mich der Kritik von aussie2006 nicht anschliessen. Wir waren in den Weihnachtsferien an einem Abend da, wo Hochbetrieb herrschte. Kaum war ein Tisch frei, kamen neu Gäste. Es herrschte also Hochbetrieb.
Wir wurden dennoch promt bedient.
Das Koblauchbrot zur Vorspeise war sehr üppig und lecker.
Sehr zufrieden waren wir auch mit den Espetadas. Das Fleisch auf a la point gegrillt und absolut fettfrei.
Bei den Preisen kann man auch nicht meckern.
Wir waren danach pappsatt und nicht mal 30 Euro gezahlt.
Vielleicht hat aussie2006 nicht beachtet, dass die Vorspeise (Knobibrot) und auch die Beilagen zu den Espetada (Pommes, Salat, etc.) extra zählen (wie es auch in der Karte steht).
Dennoch, ein Essen für 30 Euro für 2 Personen in der Menge und Qualität bekommt man in Deutschland nicht mehr.

Leider können wir nichts Gutes an dem Londres lassen. OK, wir waren so ziemlich die einzigen Touristen welche zu Mittag hier gegessen haben. Aber wenn der Madeirenser zum Entrée 2 kleine Aufmerksamkeiten aus der Küche bekommt so sollte das auch für andere Gäste gelten. Die Qualität der Espedadas war asolut unzureichend. Das Fleisch bestand zur Hälfte nur aus Fett und Sehnen und war eigentlich unessbar. Als absolute Unverfrohrenheit ist jedoch die Abzocke bei der Rechnung. 2 Mal Espetada zu je 8,50 und 2 Glas Bier kosten auf einmal 30,60 Euro. Hierher werden wir sicher NIE mehr zum Essen gehen.

EXCELLENT ce restaurant de Funchal reçoit essentiellement des autochtones aussi es ce la garantie de bien manger et de découvrir les spécialités madeiranes loin des lieux à touristes!
Les 2 spécialités en vue sont :
espadas un poisson des mers profondes très fins et peu connu en France le sabre noir
et espetadas la brochette de boeuf!
excellent service gentillesse et prix très doux notamment sur les liquides !
