Retiro da Trindade

Ich habe das Hähnchen Filet bestellt und mein Partner das Rinderfilet auf dem Stein. Mein Essen war vollkommen in Ordnung und bei 6 € absolut nichts auszusetzen. Das Rind war super, das Fleisch war sehr zart und man konnte es so essen wie man es gerne mag (Medium /​durch etc). Beilagen waren ok aber etwas trocken. Ein Stern Abzug für die extreme Wartezeit und weil wir dreimal bitten mussten zu bezahlen und schließlich dafür reingegangen sind, da sie wohl sehr überlastet waren. Überlegen trotz dessen aber im Urlaub nochmals dort vorbei zu schauen!

The food was very good, service was okay. I had the steak on a stone which was excellent and fun to cook your own steak! My wife had the fish rice which could have served 2! We ate outside as too hot inside, but many smokers outside so unpleasant. Definitely good food.

When in Lagos, we were looking for a restaurant to truly experience an authentic Portuguese meal and upon the recommendation from one of the locals, we decided to head on over to Retiro da Trindade. Between the food, prices and overall local vibe to this place, it was as close to authentic as I could have hoped for.
We sat outside at this covered patio area and started with drinks, fresh bread and local cheese (which we couldn’t stop raving about). Then we were served a generous bowl of rice with tons of fresh seafood and a tasty broth. Also we order the house steak which I was able to cook right at the table on a hot stone and was served with salad, rice and batas fritas. Between the two dishes I couldn’t have been happier with the tasty and quality of the meal.
The three of us couldn’t believe that between the portion size, quality and overall dining experience that the total bill came in just around 40 Euros total… such a great deal! We noticed so many tourists walking by this place as we dined because they probably thought it was just some hole in the wall local spot… and I hope that continues to be the case because when I go back to Lagos, this will be my first places to stop by for another great meal!

Ein richtig Cooler Laden! Ich hatte hier ein Steak auf einem Stein für knapp 10 Euro. Ich denke man soll es probieren. Andere fanden es zwar zäh, aber ich kann das nicht bestätigen.
Der Laden ist sehr einfach eingerichtet, es kommen Touristen vom Nahen Campingplatz, aber auch viele Portugiesen. Es gibt viele Portugiesische Gerichte, Fische, Fleisch, Tapas… etc. Das essen ist durchwegs gut, der Service ist super.
Die Nachspeisen sind zu krass… man sollte sie probieren.

Auf keinen Fall vom Charme der Plastiktische, Papiertischdecken und Neonröhren abschrecken lassen, das Trinidade ist eine echte Perle!
Gekocht wird typisch portugiesisch, die Gerichte sind einfach, und die Zutaten frisch. Dass in der deutschen Übersetzung der Speisekarte der Pulpo Salat zum Pulversalat wird, sorgt in der Runde für allgemeines Amusement.
Die gegrillten Gambas kamen mit ordentlich viel Knoblauch und fast noch brutzelnd an den Tisch, die Tintenfischringe zergehen fast auf der Zunge und die Oliven schmecken wunderbar.
Als Hauptgericht kann ich die im ganzen gegrillte Dorade mit frischem Gemüse und selbstgemachten Pommes nur wärmstens empfehlen, oder das Rinderfilet auf der heißen Steinplatte — beides ein Traum.
Die Preise sind sehr moderat, ein halber Liter Rotwein für 2,50 €, Dorade und Rinderfilet jeweils um die 12 €.
Einzig der Nachtisch war nicht ganz meins, zu süß, zu viel Ei, einfach zu portugiesisch, für meinen Geschmack. Nichtsdestotrotz, unbedingt ein fünf-​sterne-​Laden!

This place is awesomely cheap and decently delicious. The «ham» (prosciutto) sandwich was pretty good, while the seafood rice (a soup) was one of the best of its kind — at only 11 EUR. Beers are also under 1 EUR each. All in all, this is an excellent value, and my best meal in Lagos.

Traditional Portuguese café restaurant filled with a mix of locals and tourists. The plastic red chairs sat on a large terrace beside a busy road disguise the great value food that this place serves up. Service is not exactly speedy but if you have spent anytime in Portugal then you will be prepared for that. Grab a server as soon as you catch their eye and place your order earlyI always go for fish and tonight picked the enormous rice with seafood served in a cast iron pot brimming with a mix of seafood and a tomato based broth. Great value at EUR11. Deserts are a steal if you opt for the homemade selection although the full range of pre packaged carte d’or frozen deserts are also on offer with a heftier price tag. Cream caramel at EUR1.50 was the pick. This will be a regular stop off point if we want to grab an early bite on our way back from the beach.
Update 2014 — we are back in Lagos and have returned to this restaurant/​bar several times — twice for dinner and other times just for a drink. It is still seriously good value — the seafood rice is still enormous — beer and wine ridiculously cheap. It’s a good mix of locals and tourists and gets seriously busy if football is on the big screen. It’s fairly close to Praia D’ Ana and a great spot to retreat for a cooling beer. Staff are friendly and helpful.
