We were on our budget in lagos. This place is amazing for tapas. Most items on the tapas menu are 3 – 4 euro and all delicious. Please try the shrimp!!! And the chorizo that they flame in front of you, making it so crispy and good! Def great for a budget traveller

Highly recommended by our Air BNB host for a traditional Portuguese dinner, Mimar did not disappoint. We ordered an array of items including a bean stew that is popular in Portugal(comfort food-delicious and hearty), cheeses, an omelette, and potatoes and wine. Our total was about € 19 for a feast with wine. I’d also like to add that wine was 1,50 euro — $ 2USD. What a steal — — and it was good wine. Seating floods from the inside onto the sidewalk. Mimar blends in to the restaurant located next door — the strip appears to be one long restaurant alley. So, if Mimar is too busy you’re bound to find something next door.

Lagos, food and drink is very hit and miss. Mimar is a hit! I have eaten tapas many times, even had tapas cooked by a Michelin starred chef, and by far Mimar was my favourite. My friend and myself ordered three tapas each; the portion sizes were quite large, I recommend starting with two each. We were buzzing as soon as the food came out, and the smile the food put on our faces lasted all week. Service is fantastic — We booked a table for the evening and the waitress placed us on a table in the best spot outside, they staff were friendly and welcoming, once we had made our minds up what to eat service was quick and efficient. We went for both the green wines on the menu. We were so glad we did, I highly recommended trying one if you have seafood. We ended up purchasing a bottle to take back to the UK. The bar specialises in gin. A good selection of gins is available(three pages in the menu!) along with many different tonics and cocktail mixes. Gin is becoming very fashionable here in the UK so hopefully tourists will flood to Mimar. We loved it so much on our last night in Lagos we visited again. Enjoyed 1L of sangria which was perfect, along with chocolate fondue.
