While in San Juan for vacation, Chinese food was the LAST thing I wanted to try. I’ve eaten Chinese food from all of the great North American Chinese friendly cities. Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, San Francisco, New York, Edmonton(yes, Edmonton) and others around the world. Puerto Rico is not one of those cities. I went to this restaurant because the tour group I was with decided this was the place to go. Eek! Methinks not! First off. The service was cheezy and obnoxious. Like the comical Chinese restauranteur on a bad sitcom. Yes, I am talking about YOU Mr. skinny trying to be funny maitre’d. You are a mockery of yourself — a bad character in a bad sitcom. Second you turn people away because you can’t handle the volume? Seriously? A couple of members of my group were turned away for this reason. Third, another member in the same group was chastised for not ordering food but ordered beer instead when he saw what the other people were being served. He was charged more for his beer than others at the table who ordered both food and beer. Double pricing structure? Fourth, the food you serve is fit for 1950’s America, not contemporary foodies. Take your orange chicken and shove it! I ordered the closest thing I saw on the menu to actual Chinese food, the Mongolian Beef. It was ‘meh’ and to be fair a tough dish to screw up. It is time for you to rethink your menu JH Yee. Fifth, your waiter was given $ 40 cash for a $ 30 meal and did not return with change. What did you not think I’d notice? For shame! I truly do not understand why this place rates 4 – 5 stars consistently. I tend to be very open and look at both sides but this is a clear case of bad over bad. If you find yourself at the Vendenza Hotel in Puerto Rico and crave Chinese food, go to the Chinese restaurant down the street in the strip mall. NOTE: Just reading the other reviews and the overwhelming majority of Asians rated this place very low while the non-Asians rated it on the other end of the scale. When it comes to Asian cuisine — who do you trust? END

This place has great food and great people serving you. WE came here for my friends daughter 9th birthday and the owner was nice funny and a great server. He made us laugh and we enjoyed our food even more Lettuce wraps, dumplings, Kung pao chicken, general tso chicken and lo mean were amazing! Next time I’m in Puerto Rico I am visiting this place again! I recommend this place to anyone who is feeling something different than Puerto Rican food

They have the best lettuce wraps. Great food. Great prices. Make sure you try the dumplings and the Mongolian Beef too. One of my favorite places to dine in Puerto Rico.

Excellent food, which we remembered from last time. Service was great(the place was practically empty!!). The fried noodles you get first are really crispy & not greasy. You MUST try the«Full Steam Ahead” — OUTSTANDING. The Singapore vermicelli, which I requested vegetarian, was terrific too. Really enjoyable & would definitely come back again.

I was in P. R for over 3 days and I craved for some Chinese food. It was hard to decide where to go eat since the city dont have a chinatown here. I was glad I find this restaurant from trip advisor website. I was amazed to find such good Chinese food in San Juan, P.R. The steam fish filet with scallions was really good and roasted duck. The fried rice is just as good as I can get in Houston. I forgot to mention that Asian food is not very popular here in Puerto Rico so dont be surprised that you see this place look empty. Give it a try, it actually very good food.

Our first time in Puerto Rico and our first time in this restaurant. It was resplendent! We loved it! Lettuce wraps are amazing! Pineapple fried rice, orange chicken and sweet sour pork followed right along– delicious! Host was very accommodating and friendly. He made us feel very welcome. Yee’s was better than our dinner in Chinatown, San Francisco! We will be back!

After a long day of travel, this was the resturant choice for our fist meal of the trip. The wait staff were all smiling and Brian our waiter was gracious and made great recommendations. As someone else mentioned, the Lettuce Wraps were awesome! I’ll go one step further and say that they put P.F. Chang’s Lettuce Wraps to shame. The steamed white fish was light and tasty as was the beef teriyaki strips.

One of our usual places when we come to San Juan. Always a great meal with fantastic service. Most if the time we have over 10 people in our party and we are always accommodated.

Their Chinese foods are ok but do not order any sushi! Their raw fish is not flesh at all and their sushi rice is not standard, its smell like jasmine rice and very watery but they say its ok because they are in Puerto Rico. I recommended them to add warning on their menu that they use their original sushi rice so people do not accept standard sushi rice. But they said they can’t. I know why because no one gonna order sushi any more. You have to trust me becuae I am Japanese!

The food was nice but overpriced. Great service but the lobby smell too much greasy. This restaurant is in Verdanza Hotel. I was overwhelmed with the greasy smell in the lobby as they have an open kitchen. The eel sushi was wonderful. Meaty and delicious. The scallp Fujiyama has the right fresh ingredients but too amenricanized. Impecable services which I really enjoyed. All items should be 30−50% less as charged if you ask me.

J.H. Yee’s Asian Bistro is one of the restaurants located in the Verdanza Hotel. They offer an mix of several Asian cuisines. The décor was nice, various Asian inspired paintings and pictures. The thing I enjoyed most is they have a window with flowing water that streams down the windowpane. Very pleasing to the eye. Service was pretty good, my server was friendly and engaging. He kept my water glass filled and was prompt with deliver of my food. He even put my first round on my plate, it was a bit much but I wasn’t upset over it. Food was pretty good, I had the Tahiti pineapple chicken, the chicken pieces were a quality size and coated well. The pineapple sweet and sour sauce was delicious with a decent hint of tang to it. The accompanying rice was steamed nicely and wasn’t overcooked. Nice Asian food, definitely worth a visit if you’re staying in the Verdanza anyway.

Mediocre service. Rice noodles decent. Not too many good Chinese options in San Juan or Carolina. This hotel has two other, nicer restaurants. Worth a visit for variety of menu options. Tends to be emptier, no waiting. Prices a bit high. Not higher than at the other local restaurants but for the quality of the food.

This is an over-priced Chinese restaurant located in an over-priced hotel. After 8 days in Puerto Rico, my wife was craving some Asian food so due to the good reviews, we decided to come here. Price was pretty high as every plate was in the $ 14 — $ 20 range, which I’m fine with if the food was high quality. So we tried the Pork chow-main, Orange Chicken, Peking duck, and wonton soup. Everything tasted bland; the quality of food was sub-par, and even the wonton soup tasted bad. How can anyone miss-up wonton soup? The place is has an open kitchen so we can see what the kitchen staff was doing. The high-light of this meal was watching the head-chef stand there motion-less for at least 5 minutes looking at the ground. He looks like his wife just left him and took his beloved dog with her. But then again, if I had to eat the terrible food here every day, I would be depressed too.

Though I applaud the fact that this restaurant tries to infuse some of the Puerto Rican food culture with Asian food(tortillas with peking duck), I’m sad to say that it didn’t work out. At all. I had the Saigon Fried Rice, Genghis Khan beef, Peking Duck, and shrimp. None pleased me. The rice was fairly bland while the peking duck came with tortillas, which was the largest blemish of the night because the taste of the toasty, crispy tortillas did not mesh well with the almost-there flavor of the duck. The beef and shrimp were fairly average, but were also missing a little something. It just didn’t work, and that is just the best way I can put it. I also must question whether or not an actual Asian chef was consulted when they came up with these dishes. Compound that with the ridiculous prices(18 bucks for fried rice??) and this place earns no stars. However, the service was good, so there’s the plus 1 star.

I don’t know where the other people on here ate, but it sure wasn’t the same JH Yee’s Asian Bistro that I visited. This place is your typical suburban Chinese. Not really all that fancy, food is decent but not great. The restaurant décor and its patrons are depressing. If you’re in the mood for some OK Chinese then by all means, go for it, but don’t expect a 5 star experience or food. The 5 star reviews on here sure are curious. Maybe… fake???

Located inside a Holiday Inn this place is a Chinese food gem. My first 5 star Chinese food rating. Granted, this place has a bit of Japanese and Thai mix in it… I never had Chinese food taste so good and so healthy. This place was super duper fancy and I loved the way they brought out Chinese dried noodles to dip in a mild wasabi sauce. The fried rice was presented inside a pineapple. However, their crab rangoon just made me stick my nose up in the air at it(even though everyone else in my party was raving about it) because so far nothing compares to the delicious crab rangoon of Siam Noodle and Rice in Chicago, IL… hee hee.
