I’m giving it three stars simply because it has a drive thru. Eh on the food, super greasy.

I don’t even know where to begin! My family and I have been coming to Star Cream since I was 5 years old(maybe even younger!). This place has, hands down, the best fried rice I have ever had in my 26 years of life, and I love fried rice more than the average bear so I think I’ve eaten my fair share to make an educated opinion. Let me put it to you this way, I moved from Puerto Rico when I was 7 years old, and we visit regularly. What is one of our very first stops when we touch down on the island? Star Cream. And we make sure to eat there again before we leave. Run, don’t walk, to Star Cream. You won’t regret it. Oh, and their spare ribs and fried chicken are amazing too.

I’ve lived in the south of the U.S. for 25 years, and I’ve yet to find a place that remotely delivers what Star Cream does in terms of flavor and value. I grew up a few blocks from the one in Campo Rico(no longer there), and all these years later, I find myself craving their food much more often than I wish I did, since I cannot find anything around here(Texas) that even comes close to it. Their fried rice is delicious, and their Fried Chicken is simply divine. Every time I go back, this is the first place I visit. I can find morcilla, cuajito, lechon and all of the Puerto Rican fixins’ anywhere in the island, but for a good chinese food fix this is, and will always be, my favorite place to go.

I was raised walking distance from Star Cream, and Felicilandia which used to be next to this joint before it became a parking lot where two favorite stops in my upbringing. Over the decades having travelled the world over, many stops in China included, I must say that Star Cream still occupies a top ten spot for my favorites to eat. Every trip to PR to visit family, Star Cream is a mandatory stop. Its unique flavor is its own, and albeit not the most healthy way of cooking, anything from its egg rolls to ribs are perfection. Many people think this is some kind of Ice Cream joint, based on a name chosen decades ago when this placed open, which must have been over 40 years ago given I remember going as a kid and I am 43 years old today. Its has gotten a bit pricey, much in particular having stayed mostly a fast food place accross the street from Burger King and other fast food joint in the San Patricio Mall area. If you ever wanted to discover Chinesse food with a latino touch, Star Cream has got to be a must in your Zagart cuisine of places to discover. At a minimum it deserves your time to form a self made opinion, so go try it and let us know what your views are. Perhaps you love it or hate it, but will not be able to deny its unique taste and extravagant portions.

I find it to be the best Chinese food in town for a fast food type of place. The drive though is a great convenience. Reasonably priced. All the options are tasty and fresh. Great family place.

Don’t let the name fool you. Star Cream is a family-run Chinese restaurant serving its unique blend of fast-food, Chinese with Criollo influence cuisine, for over 40 years in Puerto Rico. This one has been open since the early 1980s, and has been feeding generations of Puerto Ricans with fried rice, pepper steak, fried chicken, egg rolls, and BBQ ribs. Everything is made in-house, and at its peak, there were five of these, in Plaza Carolina, Campo Rico, Juncos(the first and original), Cupey, and the one in San Patricio.
