As we were leaving El Yunque Rainforest, my gf and I saw this place on the side of the road and I was immediately interested. As you might expect from the name, the place has a good selection of rum and a bunch of rum cocktails that are made appropriately strong. The coco loco was fantastic. The coconut and rum flavors compliment each other really well. As we were leaving, the bartender made piña colada’s for a table and covered them each with whipped cream and sprinkles. I regret not getting one of those because it looked so good! Check this place out on your way out of El Yunque. It’s a great place for a post-hike cocktail.

Worst mistake of our 3 week vacation. Stopped here after a day in El Yunque. No lights in the bathroom, as well as no paper towels. Barely any English from the waitress. No motz sticks when we ordered but they were on the menu, the burgers were gross and tasted weird and the service was horrible. The bartender/waitress flirted with a guy at the bar for about 40 minutes ignoring us and the ding of the bell from the kitchen telling her our food was ready. Avoid this place!

The Rum house was awesome! It had a great outdoor tropical vibe. The bar was equipped with a pool table, dominos, and other board games. It also had a small stage where it looked like it was used for live music. Drink wise, I highly recommend the coco loco or the piña colada. The presentation of the drinks was very pretty and the piña colada looked like heaven in a glass. It was topped with purple colorful whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry on top. If you are in Puerto Rico, I recommend you come on by!

Slow service but friendly bartender! Shared a plate of the mofongo de camarones with creole sauce – delicious, plenty of food for two. Great pitstop for refreshments after a hike in the forest.

Meh. This place was just ok. It’s more a bar than a good eats place. Service as bit slow. Food ok. Might be a good place to grab a few cocktails and go.

The Rum House is a hidden gem. My friends and I stumbled across this place after hiking through El Yunque to see the waterfalls. The atmosphere is very relaxing which was so needed after the hike we had just finished. The ladies who work the bar are very welcoming and attentive. They asked where my girlfriends and I were from and informed us of all the local hotspots to try. We had a couple appetizers which were delicious! The house even provided a shot to all customers. Shots shots shots… Everybody! The Rum House is a must if you’re in the area. Also, don’t forget, 18+ to drink.

Food was good but service was all time terrible. We waited one hour before being served and waitress forgot to put in one entrée. We were only four people and even after our meals arrived we never got our additional requests, like dressing for the salad or a steak knife for our steak.

This was a random stop for our van full of guys on a bachelor party on our way down from the waterfalls in the rain forest. We were just going to stop for a drink and get back on the road, but this turned into a 3 hour party. The bartenders are awesome and the location is great. It is surrounded by forest and views of the mountains. Palm trees and hammocks sit around the bar and the bartenders even climbed some of the trees to get coconuts for their drinks. As awesome as the environment and service was, the food was the best part of the experience and it was the best food we had all weekend. We ordered so many things off the menu that I can’t even begin to break down what I ate, but all 11 of us agreed it was amazingly good and it was such a surprise. If you’re visiting San Juan and make the hour trip to the rain forest, I strongly recommend stopping by the rum house. Climb the waterfalls, then stop by and refuel with the best fried pork I’ve ever had.

This is a pretty cool bar. We spotted this place on our way back from the rain forest. After our hiking trip, we worked up an appetite. This is an open air restaurant bar with parking literally right up to the bar. When we arrived we were the only two customers. The bar owner, Jay and the waitress were the only ones there, which was pretty cool and we were able to chat with them easier. My boyfriend is a Harley Davidson owner and he and Jay talked on and on about the Harley events the bar holds during the year. Very cool place to have such an event. PARTY place for sure! Jay made an awesome Mojito and the appetizer we had was good :-) We’d go back for sure!

After hiking and working up an appetite this open air restaurant looked like a perfect stopping point. They serve Puerto Rican food along with lots of blended drinks. The food is alright-it’s mostly fried food that will fill you up quickly. The bar tenders are friendly and will keep the drinks coming. The open air atmosphere is nice as well. My only complaint is I wish the food was a little better. But the location is good enough after I long hike I’d probably stop in again. (They do sell bottled water — good to know if you’re headed up and forgot to hydrate before hiking.)

After an afternoon in El Yunque Rainforest, The Rum House offered a quick bite to each and lots of refreshments to suit your refreshments… Try the passion fruit mojito… My friend said it was really good and on 4th one you’d probably not be able to walk str8. Friendly staff and a wide range of Puerto Rican cuisine will sure entertain your palate. While there we were treated to live local music which completely set the mood. Though beside the busy road that leads up to the rainforest park’s entrance the ambiance surely sets the relaxing mood. A definite stop to or from the forest!

$ 6 pina coladas were good, could be stronger less ice but given the tourist path better than $ 12 at our hotel.
