I admit the service is SLOW even when no one is around in the place. However, the food is really good. I order the Pad Thai — which is the closest I ever taste compared to the authentic Thai restaurants back home in California. There is an open bar and patio setting which if you request to sit in the patio they have discounted items of food which is pretty stupid. So you get special items if you sit in the patio versus like 5 feet away inside the restaurant. Makes NOSENSE but whatever. They have special rolls too that have discounted prices at the patio. My choice: Yamada roll Naruto roll Atlantic All of the special rolls are so yummy. Best sushi that compares to home in California. I tried a couple of sushi restaurants on the island and I have to admit I keep coming to Kona Grill because the taste is so authentic. Parking is at the mall and there’s a lot of security. The atmosphere is awesome with nice decoration The waitresses and waiters are EXTREMELY nice and cater to you. There is a waiter there that would hold my chopsticks so I would slide it out of the paper wrapping. Who does that? ****Also you can sign up for birthday at their main website where you can get a special birthday roll on a side as long as it is $ 13.00 or less when you order one roll. ****Remember to also go to the info desk at the mall to get a PASSPORT(coupon book) and there’s a kona grill discount you can use during the day.

Poor service. The service and food is poor. I would not go again. Wines list is limited. It is a pricey fast food.

Will give 2 stars because when they opened was good! Now, never again! Bad service, bad food and the worst they double charge for one bottle of wine and a soft drink. Come on a drink well it could happened but a bottle of wine? …

Terrible service. This place has the worst service my family has received in a long time. Went with my mother and sister. Sister and mom ordered salads, I ordered a rainbow naruto(which is sushi wrapped in cucumber). We waited 45 minutes for our meal for come at all, which would be understandable for a more complicated entrée. But all of our food was cold, sans the chicken on the salads which would never take 45 min to cook. There were 6 people in the kitchen, customers could clearly see them grouping together to talk while a couple cooked. Once the food arrived they had made the wrong roll, the waiter asked the server to make the right one. My sister and mother refused to eat while waiting for my food to arrive thinking my roll would maybe take 10 minutes tops. We waited around 30 minutes for the roll to come back out. At this point it’s just hard to understand how the restaurant would not prioritize an order that they messed up. We had to wait almost the same amount of time that we waited the first time for the roll. The waiter never came to check on us, when he finally did we were done eating and quickly asked for the check so that we wouldn’t have to be there any longer. The check took another 10-ish minutes, and they charged full price for everything. They didn’t even offer to discount the roll that took over an hour to get right. Common decency would have been to at least make sure that the rest of our meal was good, but not even that. The worst part is that none of the service staff even seemed to realize how unacceptable the entire situation was. Never even an apology for the late plate, even after seeing that my mom and sister were waiting for me to have my food to begin eating theirs. If you have 3 hours to waste at a restaurant to eat a simple salad that should only take a couple of minutes to make, go for it– eat here. But chances are you don’t, so just steer clear from this place. The reviews don’t lie.

I’ve been here twice, the second time because it was the only place open at the mall, not because I’m a masochist. The food is OK, at best, if you know what to order. If you don’t know what to order, then, it borders on fast food or cafeteria food. A friend I was with said her salad tasted just like a McDonald’s salad, and her husband tried it and swore it tasted just like one they gave him as a choice at his high school cafeteria. He also said his lobster mac and cheese lacked sauce, which I could clearly see was true. My food(the chicken pesto linguine) was, like I said, OK, certainly edible, though nothing to write home about. The same goes for the chicken(almond crusted?) I had the first time; a decent meal but nothing I’d remember enough to repeat. I do recall that my nephew’s pizza from the children’s menu looked like a store bought flatbread with some nondescript sauce and cheese, all of it cut up into little squares. Again, nothing offensive, just not that appetizing either. The portions are generous. The drink selections are also uninspired, though I give them kudos for having three local craft beers on tap. The place is certainly nice looking, although they clearly have some issues with their kitchen’s hood because the whole dinning area smells like smoke. As for the service, again just OK. I’ve heard some complaints but in general I’m tolerant of some forgetfulness in waiters unless it’s about the main order so I’m not going to complain myself.

Wow was I disappointed. Ambiance is beautiful, food was good(not great.). Service is severely lacking. We waited at the host stand for about 5 minutes for someone to greet us before a young lady got up from the waiting area sofa to greet us. There was someone before us also waiting. All the while she was sitting right there looking at us while playing on her phone… really?! Wow! The place was empty so I’m not sure why she was sitting in the waiting sofa and not attending to the guests. We finally get seated and wait 7 minutes for a waitress. A waitress comes up and asks if we are being served and we say no. She then tells us she will serve us. I thought that was weird because I’ve waitresses tables before and was given a specific set of tables. I didn’t touch anyone else’s assigned tables because that was their area and $. She takes our order and we specifically say please bring the drinks right away because we are thirsty and bring all the food together because we ordered soup and appetizers together. 15 minutes pass and no drinks. We see her walking around service others drinks and food. I see someone who looks like a manager and ask for our drinks. I told her we have been waiting and told her what we ordered. She goes to get the drinks and is missing two I told her. I then tell her we need the other two drinks. She only brings back one and then I tell her we are missing the other I asked for, finally she brings back the last drink. What the heck!!! What a mission just to get four people something to drink. I don’t understand why this was so complicated. Our waitress later comes and apologizes. 30 minutes later, the soups come out for three. They finished the soups. After the soups the lady who looked like then manager(because she had a blazer on instead of just a while shirt like all the other waitresses) brings our one sushi roll and the chicken pot sticker, each for one person. Those are finished but we are still waiting for the two salads. We are waiting waiting waiting waiting for the waitress to ask about the salads. After a loooong time looking for the waitress, we pulled any waitress we could to ask about the salads. The other waitress brought us the salads. Then our waitress came to apologize about the salads. We complained to her and asked what was the hold up because the California roll and chicken potstickers take longer to make than the salads. She apologized with some lame excuse. We asked for the manager. She said she would get her. We finished the salads and waited another 20 minutes for the manager. The manager never came(apparently that is why service is the way it is) and the waitress came back and asked if we would like desert. She said she told the manager and the manager said we could have a free desert. She kept asking what deserts would you like. We said no deserts. She kept asking if we are sure(now it was just getting awkward) and we insisted no. She then asked if we wanted coffee and we said no and she asked if we were sure(another additional awkward moment-we said no-how many times are you going to ask us?!) We asked for the check. Even the check took long!!! After about ten minutes, we just got up and were beginning to make our way out in hopes that would get us our check. That worked because she ran to us and said I will get the check for you right now. And she finally did right next to us at one of the stations. This was horrible service. Corporate you need to get on this general manager or manager. Who ever was responsible for that Restraunt needs to retrain their staff or should be retrained themselves. I will never be going back there again no matter how pretty it looks. Our visit was on 11/25/2015 around 4 pm.

Went for my mother’s birthday dinner and had a pretty terrible meal. We spent the rest of the evening joking that it «never happened» because we didn’t want it to ruin her birthday. Food We had the dumplings to start. They were greasy, and the filling was closer to what you would get in an empanada. They weren’t terrible, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend them. For my main course, I ordered a seaweed salad, tuna sushi, and salmon sashimi. The seaweed salad was fine– pretty standard. The tuna and the salmon were both so old and fishy tasting, that after one bite of each, I stopped for fear that I would get sick. My mom also took a nibble(I was worried I was over reacting) andshe also agreed that the fish was some of the worst she has ever had. My sister had a Wave Roll and my mom had a spicy tuna roll and an eel roll. They thought they were all okay, but not great. My sister declared she rather eat the pre-packaged sushi from her college cafeteria. My dad got the lobster Mac and cheese and was very unhappy with it. The pasta managed to be both overcooked and undercooked, depending on which part or the dish you were eating. Ambiance Ambiance was pretty nice, especially for a shopping mall. Service Service was pretty good, but not great. Our waiter forgot to bring me silverware when he brought everyone else’s, and it took 10 minutes before any of us could flag down another waiter and ask for a fork for me. Our waiter was otherwise very courteous, and took a bunch of photos for us when we asked for a group photo, which was greatly appreciated. We ended up leaving about half our food behind, which was especially disappointing given the price. Overall a very unpleasant experience, and we definitely plan on never coming back.

The service was good at the beginning but our server was changed. No water was served and no asking about whether we wanted more sangria. The sushi was poor and lacking flavor. Had to ask for soy since none was provided with the sushi. I think that for the price the food and the service should have been better. The first server finally showed to pick up our plates and noticed that no water was provided and brought some but trying to get water from the ice left from the sangria was not cool. We were basically ignored by the replacement waiter. The sushi was not presented well and didn’t look appetizing. What a disappointment and waste of money this place was. My aunt’s chicken looked disgusting and wondered whether the mashed potatoes were actually potatoes. It is obvious that management doesn’t give an Angolan pickle about Unilocal reviews since they don’t bother to respond to consumer feedback. Perhaps they should start to see what’s working and what isn’t.

The place is huge and very well appointed with great décor. The menu is confusing. Typical food chain, not impressed with the food. Appetizers were good. As main entrée I had the Ribeye and the quality was below normal. Prices were reasonable, but rather enjoy a great food experience. Probably wont go again.

Dined at Kona Grill this past week on my first visit to the Mall of San Juan and was I impressed. I was brought here by my mom and sister who love the place. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was very quiet. We were probably one of 5 tables sitting in the restaurant. The restaurant is gorgeous and has a very trendy feel to it. I find it to be very fitting with the luxury mall environment. The restaurant has an outdoor seating option and what I thought was interesting was that they didn’t divide the dining areas in an ordinary way with just glass or a wall. The bar separates the indoor and outdoor dining areas. Pretty clever from a bar service perspective. I haven’t seen a design like this recently. Our server was very friendly and super knowledgeable about the food. She had many suggestions for us and was able to answer my questions regarding some food items on the menu. She was very descriptive of the dishes and I loved her honest opinion on some dishes that weren’t her favorites. To me that’s very important for a server to do. She suggested the avocado egg rolls and we loved them. I couldn’t decide between ordering sushi or a main entrée and she was able to help me choose based on the items I was leaning towards. I ended up ordering the pan seared tuna which was exquisite. The drinks were great as well. I had my favorite, the Moscow Mule, and my sister had the coconut mojito which was MINDBLOWING. I might have to order it next time. I didn’t find the prices to be blown out of proportion as others have mentioned here. The restaurant is trendy and it is at a fancy mall. What do you expect??? I thought it was well worth it. Service was on-point, ambiance was nice, drinks were delicious and food was great. I can’t imagine what else you could ask for. Puerto Rico is evolving in the restaurant industry and I love it! Definitely can’t wait to visit again this summer.

Ok service, and ok food. I enjoyed the sushi, good wine list. Im just not a fan of Hawaii themed anything, or chains. But its new, and clean, and spacious, and noisy. Not a bad place to hang after work.

In Puerto Rico must of the restaurant looks and feel the same, but this one kind of look like the ones in the states. Food was expensive thoug, but in tearms of quality and flavor they were ok. Also this is one of the few places that serves Draft Heineken which was real good

The concept of the restaurant has an appeal to it. I went with the dumplings as the appetizer but the meat tasted a little cold. I’m sure that if the dish would’ve been served hot, it would’ve tasted better. The club sandwich was good. The place is overpriced and the service was average. The food took 40 minutes and the waitress apologized profusely. Overall, I can definitely find better places to compensate for the concept.
