Nice café in a part of town with some authentic character. The cinnamon roll was good, not great. Decent coffee and WiFi.

There was construction going on the floors above, but the café was still very much functional. There were so many kanelbullars in the window that we realized they were a Swedish specialty. Needless to say, I had to try one. It was basically a really big and flat cinnamon roll, but it was good! They had sugar on top and I scooped most of it off so it wouldn’t get too sweet. It was really big though, so I ate a little more than half of it and saved the rest for breakfast the next day. The ambiance is nice in the café; there are q lot of comfortable chairs and an ample amount of space, and the menu has sweets(pies, cakes, cookies, pastries, etc), drinks(coffee, tea, etc), and food(sandwiches, pastas). Definitely come check it out if you’re in the area!

We found this place on Trip Advisor and stopped by as we heard there would be cute little shops around the neighborhood. This place is known for the large Cinnabon like dessert. It’s not quite like the ones you will find in the USA. It’s not as moist or sticky and less sweet. We shared a large one for two people and we did not finish. It’s big enough for 3 – 4 people to share. Quite inexpensive, too, at about $ 5−6USD each. There were other desserts and food offered here but we just stuck with the husaren(Cinnabon) and some lattes. I’d say stop by if you are already headed towards Haga Nygata otherwise just skip it. Free wifi — just ask the people at the counter. Bathrooms are super small and compact! Watch your knees.

After an initial stroll down Haga Nygata on my first day in Gothenburg, I made a mental note to return to Café Husaren for my next fika. It looked super cute from the outside with the large bulle [cinnamon rolls] piled high in the glass window, as well as numerous patrons going in and out of the café. I returned the next day after class, v hungry and ready to try a variety of the pastries. I found café Husaren super mediocre. While they had what seemed like at least 30 different types of desserts, none of them looked particularly appealing. Definitely a quantity over quality situation. I ordered two desserts [can’t remember what, which should already tell you something!] and they were so blah that I didn’t finish either [very unlike me!]. The latte I ordered was just ok as well. My travel buddy ordered one of the huge bulle that they are famous for and he said it was pretty good. The interior décor mirrored the mediocrity of the food. Although the décor was very fancy with chandeliers and tiled ceilings, to me it seemed a little drab + worn and looked like it could use a good, thorough cleaning. The décor featured lots of heavy curtains, which blocked the sunlight and also lots of pillows. I don’t find all this heavy upholstery in an eating establishment v appealing. I wasn’t super comfortable in my seat; however, I was limited in my choice because I needed an outlet [which were hard to find!] They do stay open later than some of the other cafes on Haga Nygata. Wifi was free, but ask the associate for the password before you get all comfortable! Actually, I just remembered that the wifi had a terrible signal. At least the photo I took of the cinnamon buns piled high in the window got me a lot of Instagram likes [or maybe it was just my witty caption]!

— located in the historic district Haga — offers seating outside in the sun — big variety of cakes/kaka and sweet stuff as kanelbullar(very big Swedish cinnamon rolls) — snickerskaka was very sweet(18SEK); rhubarb pie(I did not take the custard/vanilla sauce; 38SEK) was not that sweet and very tasty — coffee: 25SEK; tea: 25SEK — even though it is very popular the prices are still okay! You should definitely go there and try some cake or cinnamon roll!

I’ve had breakfast here a couple of times. You get a sandwich, juice, cold boiled egg, yoghurt+musli, hot beverage and a pancake served w jam and cream. Unfortunately the pancake is cold before you get to it. The egg is not freshly boiled it is ice cold — Huge downside! Decent but not the sexiest breakfast around!
