The food and beer are excellent. The outdoor seating is pleasant. Unfortunately, the service is abysmal. I have visited the Fischer Stube three times and have yet to receive anything resembling fast or friendly service. It’s a shame, really.

Fantastic Biergarten in the back(wander through the restaurant, go out the back door and upstairs) with nothing but locals. My boyfriend and I went here for a late-ish dinner on a Saturday night and it was perfect. Amazing Wienerschnitzel and awesome traditional Swiss/German appetizer(The Jubilee Plate) of various sausages, Gruyère, brown bread, small salad of greens and onions and a warm pretzel. Their salads are also great – dressed with a mustard vinaigrette over really fresh bib lettuce. The beer here is amazing – really. They have Ueli Weizen, Lager and Reverenz on tap and it’s some of the best I’ve had in the area. Great food, great atmosphere – only complaint – our waitress was really pokey – but it made it enjoyable because we were in no hurry. Total cost for an appetizer(big enough for a few people to share), a salad(I couldn’t finish it), Wienerschnitzel with fries, and 4 beers was just around 100CHF – which in Switzerland is really not bad at all.

Pretty cool restaurant/bar. They brew their own beer and you can drink in a great variety. If you go as a group i’d suggest the«fässli»(picture in the review). the food is very good too! if you want to show something typical-basel to a tourist or if you like beer; this is the place you go!

The blonde pilsner + wienerschnitzel + spatzle was amazing. It will likely be crowded when you go, and yes, you have to share a table but that’s what they do. Expect it. It’s a mix of Pharma businessmen and everyone else who lives in Basel. I can’t imagine any of the food is bad and the service is very fast, even for American standards.

Ganz hervorragendes selbstgebrautes Bier in unterschiedlichen Sorten. Ich empfehle das Lager. Drinnen ganz gemütlich urig, speisen zu Baseler akzeptablen Preisen. Kleinigkeiten zum Bier, wie Fleischkäse oder Weißwurst für ca 10CHF.

My companion took me here for my first meal inside Switzerland, after he picked me up from the train station. This place is a micro-brewery; they brew two types of beers, one light and the other dark. I opted for a half-liter of the dark. It was dark(duh) and very flavorful, but not oppresingly heavy. For dinner, I opted to get the steak tartar with bread. It was very well-flavored, and later on, the staff asked if I wanted some pepper but I told her that it was not necessary. Eating raw beef may not be everyone’s thing, but hey, I don’t do it often. This was also my first realization of Swiss prices; they’re just freakingly expensive. And this is from someone who’s so used to German prices already. I could only imagine how it would feel for someone who is coming from the United States. Anyway, I still think this place was worth 5 stars. After all, I loved the steak tartar, as well as the vanilla vodka ice cream that we shared as a dessert afterwards.

I had the Wienerschnitzel with a glass of their dark beer and their weizen beer. The beer and the schnitzel were very tasty. The décor is very plane, but what they care about is the food and beer. If it is crowded, then you may have to share a table. This is what happened when I was there for dinner.

This is a great spot. Micro brewery with good beers and a nice simple clean décor. Outdoor seating too. Mixed crowd. Don’t miss out, if you’re visiting town or actually live here, it’s worth a visit — not a pub as such, but typically you’ll find groups of friends socialising.

Fantastic brewery in an old neighborhood of Basel. The beer is great and the food is good as well. It can get quite load with locals and the service is sometimes a bit saucy. Prices are moderate for Switzerland…
