Had a take out order. One of the best Indian food I have had for a while. Very friendly owner, whose family works there. I am sure they will do very well. Can’t wait to get back.

I had the grilled fish tandoori — one of the most delicious meals I’ve had in Europe. The fish was moist and flavorful, and served with a spicy sauce to garnish. Naan was included. I was delighted with the meal, the service and the experience.

Believe it or not, I found another good Indian restaurant in Basel. I’m using my other fav(Mandir) as the comparison. Transport: Tram 3 Universitat stop for both. Mandir is just a few steps away, but this place is only a 2 – 3 min walk. Food: I think this place has slightly better food. It’s fresher and the portions are a little bigger. Onion Barji and poppadoms are good starters. They tell me everything is cooked to order. I can believe it. Service: this is where it falls down. Mandir service is much better and responsive. It’s not bad service– you just have to be really assertive to get what you want. Searing: they have an outdoor section which is great during the summer. Mandir is all inside. Either way– you won’t go wrong.

I arrived this evening to a semi-busy environment. When I was seated, it took almost 7 minutes for anyone to give me a menu and another 8 minutes to take my order of samosas, saag paneer, basmati rice and garlic naan. After waiting for another 20 minutes, my waiter brought two small samosas. They were flavored well, but didn’t have much filling. A huge party left and things cleared up, but it was another 15 minutes before an empty plate and rack arrived on my table. I thought the food would come soon, but lo and behold, another 15 minutes passed while I watched the empty plate. Food continued to come for the outside patrons, but since I came solo, it definitely felt like they forgot I was here. The menu prices are pretty high(6.50CFR for two small samosas and 22.50CFR for saag paneer WITHOUT the rice?!). It has now been an hour and my dinner has yet to arrive. What a disappoint especially since I was looking forward to the dinner. UPDATE: The food arrived and it was spiced well and the garlic naan was pretty good. The server at the end of the night(maybe the manager) was pleasant and attentive. His kindness improved the rating from 2 stars to 3 stars. Unfortunately, the prices, small samosas and long wait put a damper on my experience.

Excellent food, great taste. I have always been a fan of one particular restaurant in Basel and was surprised why I didn’t try it earlier. They have a great selection of dishes in buffet that includes a starter of your choice, 3 non veg dishes, 3 veg dishes and a dessert. People who like spicy food must try their red chutney with the buffet(you might easily miss it as its kept in a small bowl between the main dishes). Great service, super food and easy to get to.

In a city with few ethnic options, the Tandoori Palace hits the spot. My standbys on the menu are Samosas, Hariyali chicken tikka(grilled, marinated chicken, cooked in a clay oven) and Rogan Josh(a classic lamb curry), accompanied with kingfisher beer and naan, of course. The service is friendly and the food is good. You will leave happy :-)

The buffet was awesome and filled with prawns, tender lamb, and lots of hot spices. It was really flavorful and the staff was marvelous and considerate. The one star less is for the outrageous cost. Seriously 39chfr, wow.

This restaurant is excellent. I just came across it this evening and it was crowded and convivial. They have a buffet but I ordered from the menu. The food was very very good. Perfectly fried pakora with spicy condiments. The Chicken Tikka was the best. The chicken was perfectly cooked and then dipped in some kind of green, fragrant sauce. Totally delicious. The staff were very friendly and relaxed. The atmosphere was also relaxed and warm. The other customers included young families, business people, couples, and lads & lassies out for a good evening. There were also three people like me; doing alone and reading the paper. If you find yourself in central Basle. I highly recommend this excellent Indian restaurants.

After eating multiple dinners of typical Swiss /German fare, I needed to break out and get my Indian foodfare on. I typically eat Indian food at least once a week back at home so while out in Basel, I had to find me some fresh Naan and Paneer. I found this restaurant highly reviewed from other sites and had to give it a chance. It is off the beaten track but not so far distant from Barfusserplatz area. I ate here on a Sunday night and it was quite dead being that most families typically eat at home on this weekend night. I ordered the Garlic Naan, Saag Ghosht(Lamb Curry) and started with the Samosas. The Somasa was fresh and hot, but it only came in one simple serving. It was accompanied by fried spinach which was a nice touch. The Saag Ghosht, Garlic Naan and basmati rice were fantastic! Fast, fresh, and delicious. . just what I like — a nice change of pace where some restaurants do not serve the main course until 30 mins. later. Kahn, the lone waiter for the night, even hooked me up an extra naan and some more curry sauce made to order and on the house! It cannot get better than that. I stuffed my face with the familiar spices that are very similar to Indian restaurants in SF. Finished the night off with an insistent coffee by Kahn, the waiter. I was quite amazed by the quality of food as Basel does not have too many Indian/Asian restaurants or ethnic patrons for that matter. Definitely will come back here on my next visit to Basel. Thank you to Kahn and the rest of the kitchen!
