First rate food. First rate service. First rate environment. There are some places you go for simple things done well. There are some places you go for outrageous things. This place is so simply exquisite, that you could go there every day, except its in a ski resort. From the moment you walk in the door you feel special. The other guests are far enough away from the entrance to not make you feel«inspected» and somebody comes straight over to you, with a warm smile asking how you are. Asking to take a look at the menu before being seated, came with such a genuinely warm and courteous, «of course», that we didn’t need to look at the menu anymore. We knew we were in for a treat. About the food, what can I say. We didn’t order starters, but the Chef offered us some for free — they were divine and I’m not going to ruin the surprise by saying what we had. Every single dish was divine. Desert? You gotta be kidding me. You had the feeling that every single piece of food was delicately hand turned to look just the way it did. About the service — every time we were served, we were served by a different person. Some people might not like that, but we did. We had the feeling like all the staff were in the kitchen talking and wondering what to bring us next and how to put a twist on our food or the service. It was great. Every single time one of our glasses were empty, there was someone at hand. We never had to look for someone. Not once. About the location. Well, its a little tricky to find, but that made it all the more rewarding. Tucked away in the middle of Davos, between the bustling Platz and sleepy Dorf, just off the Hohepromenade, this place doesn’t look much from the outside. In fact there is a wheelchair access ramp outside that makes a clunk if you step on it, but once you go through those doors, well, don’t get me started again. So, the killer question. Would I go back? Most certainly. When I think of the the couple I was with and the glow on their face at the treatment they got, absolutely. But if you do go, take someone special with you, so that you too can see sheer joy on someone elses face. Its not a simple, its not outrageous and its not cheap — it was simply unexpected. Martin O.

Awesome little find tucked away in Davos! Thanks Giulia for the Geheimtipp ;) This place doesn’t look extremely appealing from the outside, and the internal décor definitely needs a touch up, or a complete revamp for my taste, but the food and the service is impeccable. This really is a restaurant of the first degree. A quick overview of my experience: First off the bread comes out. 5 different types of bread, with 3 different types of butter. Then a greeting from the kitchen: tiny hamburgers on skewers. Next the mains, which for me was a lamb dish. The lamb cooked to perfection. Beautiful and pink on the inside and just so tender, but with a fantastic and interesting combination of accompanying flavours. No dessert was ordered, but a small plate of chocolates arrived, to perfectly finish off the evening. On top of this the service was just outstanding. Extremely attentive, friendly and on the point. Prices for this place were not cheap, but we are in Switzerland remember, and in my opinion, this is real value for money! If there was one drawback, like I mentioned at the start, the décor was a bit strange. It felt a little outdated, with ten different types of lamp fittings(I have to guess this was done purposely, but yet to see the benefit/attraction) and different coloured walls. But the food is so good, you won’t even notice as your close your eyes and savour those flavours ;)
