This is a great French restaurant. I’d say this is a good restaurant to have an intimate celebration of an anniversary, birthday, etc. Lovely and romantic deco! And the food is great! You don’t have a lot of options on the menu so I recommend checking with them first in case you are with someone under a restrict diet. It’s not a known place in town but it’s definitely a hidden gem where you can impress tourists and locals. I don’t give a 5 star rating as I think it’s quite expensive for what is offered, if a little cheaper, then it would be perfect. Service was a little slow though.

Le Opera Bouffe was a Unilocal find. I can’t believe I have worked within walking distance of this place for two years and never saw it! This place is larger than it looks from the outside. There is a good area for seating. The decorations on the inside are antique artsy accented with cherubs and old wooden furniture and quickly make you feel cosy and set you at ease. They have three different choices on their daily lunch plat du jour menu — around 19CHF — we chose the burger. The bun on the burger was nothing special, but the cheese sauce and meat were heavenly. You couldn’t eat it with your hands as it was too messy. There was a green salad and some potatoes that came with it. The green salad had a wonderful tangy fruity dressing and the potatoes were cooked in a wonderful spicy sauce. Everything was great. We ended the meal with some dessert. My friend’s chocolate mouse was too rich, but the Tarte Tatin mentioned by someone else w/the Gruyère Crème was delightful. I wouldn’t say it was the best I have had, but it was very lovely. We ended the meal with an espresso which came in some artsy cups which we got a kick out of. The service was incredibly friendly and served with a smile. The food came out in a timely manner as well. A very delightful lunch spot. I am glad we made a reservation in advance as it was definitely full for the lunch hour.

Le Opera Bouffe, has to be with out a doubt one of the best kept secrets of Geneva. Lets begin with the decorations… you walk in to find cherubs sitting on the book shelves on the walls, with old paints and prints along with old wooden tables and fireplace making you feel you are almost walking into someones home to have dinner. The drink selection is fantastic and credit to the special beers they have every now and then. Once the tough choice of food is out of the way, you can then move on to chosing what to have from the ever changing menu. It’s great, not once I have been has the menu been the same. Small, well priced for the quality… there is nothing to fault with this place. The food takes a while to prep, but thats is because it is all fresh ingredients and cooked in a ‘home cooked style’. the service is always with a smile and the atmosphere is very french/swiss french. Relaxed, enjoy the company you are with and don’t rush anywhere. A must for anyone who enjoys good food and friendly staff!

Never ate an entire meal here, just desert… Which is Tarte Tatin. The rest is meaningless, as their version make the entire meal a success!

The interior decoration, candles and a little bit dark lighting reflect an opera house or a classical music hall ambiance. The French food was tasty. The service was slow but friendly! It’s an expensive restaurant.
