L’Esquisse

Great place!
I went on a Friday night to have dinner with a friend. The place looked fully booked! The hosts were very nice and attentive :)
The menu is perfect, not to big with great options to choose from.
I ordered the scallops and my friend got the risotto! Both delicious dishes! There were 7 scallops on my dish, all perfectly cooked! The side was of mashed potatoes with truffles, some (weird) garlic sorbet (I wasn’t a fan of that) and a arugula salad. :)
For desert I had the meringues with double cream!
Amazing meal!

Great atmosphere, excellent food, excellent service.
Will go back again!

In my quest for the best cheeseburger in Geneva, I found the restaurant that prepares the best combo:
— meat is airy and perfectly cooked
— cheese is superbly fused to the patty
— bun remains firm till the end of the meal
Complete this with home-​made fries and tasty green salad.
In a league of its own!

Still the best. Every time I come here the food is consistent and the ambiance is great if you like bistro style with nice jazz playing in the background.

Une carte au naturel autour d’ingrédients de qualité. A notre passage, soirée à la truffe. Sympa. L’addition est un peu salée mais la cuisine est parfaite.

Wir hatten vorher gebucht, aufgrund der vielen positiven Bewertungen im Tripadvisor.(manchmal gucke ich auch dort hinein ;-) Der offizielle Titel dieses Restaurants ist «Bistro Gourmant», das trifft auch zu: der Stil, die Einrichtung ist «bistrohaft» mit Holztischen und –Stühlen, künstlerischem Wandbehang etc. sehr ansprechend. Es gibt eine Speisekarte (s. Foto), zusätzlich erklärt der Inhaber auf sehr unterhaltsame Art das Tagesangebot. Das Essen ist sehr gut, für meinen Geschmack könnte es auch ruhig die Hälfte der Menge tun. Aber qualitativ sehr sehr gut und preislich angemessen — in Genf gibt es offensichtlich keine «normalen» Preise (selbst eine Pizzeria um die Ecke nimmt 22 – 25 CHF für ‘né Pizza).

OK Esquisse, you have earned a final star from me. After many visits for lunch, and superb service and tasty food, you are one of my top favourite Geneva establishments. I actually couldn’t believe I hadn’t updated my review to 5 stars awhile ago. I have never had a wrong note with you. I just can’t believe I didn’t know about your set menu lunch deals! I always enjoyed the 19 CHF plat du jour of the day, but I didn’t know you also had a lunch set menu for those with a larger appetite. For only 35CHF you provided me with a delicious appetiser, main dish, and dessert. My stomach was happily full for the remainder of the day.
TIP: Other people also love Esquisse at lunch, so definitely be sure to make a reservation in advance. They have a little outdoor seating area on nice days that you can enjoy.

Not that I’ve eaten in many restaurants in Annecy (ok, two, including this one) but I assure you this is the top table in town.
Husband and wife team serve up delicious, creative, seasonal cuisine — him in the kitchen, her warmly receiving and serving the 18 people who can fit in this understated yet elegant dining room.
And the quality for the price is excellent.

L’Esquisse is one of my favorite restaurants in Geneva! Friendly owner, great service, delicious food, and great ambiance! My boyfriend and I got the Lamb and chicken burgers and loved them both.

Ambiance chic avec des plats raffinés et une belle présentation. Petite Carte qui change régulièrement.
Service de qualité et rapide. Pour repas d’affaire ou petit comité.
Déco avec une exposition de tableau assez contemporaine.
Vraiment un petit coin de paradis à proximité du lac permettant de bien commencer la soirée.
Quand on a goûté une fois on en redemande.

Wir — mein Boss aus Europa und mein Kollege aus London — waren eigentlich auf der Suche nach einem anderen Restaurant am See, als wir aufgaben und in eine Seitenstraße gingen, um ein Taxi zu finden, das uns auf die andere Seeseite bringen könnte, wo all die tollen Hotel sind.
Wir kamen an einem kleinen Eckrestaurant vorbei, nur wenige Tische belegt, nett, ansprechende Karte (soweit mein bescheidenes Französisch ausreichte, das zu beurteilen).
Wir sind rein — und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Ob Ente, Fischragout, Crème brulet oder der Hauswein: alles stimmte, alles war wunderbar, dazu eine Galerie im Lokal und als Krönung Kinder, die als Künstler verkleidet vorbei kamen, um zu singen.
Wer in Genf ist und ein wirklich sehr gutes, unauffälliges Restaurant jenseits der Schicki-​Micki-​Sterne-​Ecke sucht: Hier würde er fündig. Großartig!
