This is located right down the street from the Novotel hotel. The waitstaff was very friendly and were happy to speak English to accommodate us. We started with the garden salad, which was basic but the dressing wasdelicious. It was light and flavorful. For our main course we ordered the half and half fondue with a side of potatoes. The fondue was very flavorful but not overpowering. I forget the types of cheese, but the waiter recommended it and it was good choice. It was a bit pricey @ $ 44 per person for the salad, fondue and a pint of the local beer. You have to try fondue while in Geneva, and you won’t be disappointed with this restaurant. They had a few different types of fondue, with some meat options. Also other items on the menu of you were looking for something different.

To fully experience a city, you must try their cuisine. A few minutes away from the lake, we were lucky enough to run into this gem and try Swiss food for the first time. The Swiss are famous for their fondue and so we opted for the beef fondue. This dish was compromised of beef cubes accompanied by a variety of sauces/toppings with a side of fries and bread. You decide how well cooked you’d like your meat to be and which toppings to apply. As for the service, it was friendly, fast and the staff spoke English. The food was delicious: the place quite touristy and the experience wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place.

Swiss cheese overload! We had the house cheese fondue for 1 person – so good; the cheese blend was very rich at the same time didn’t taste heavy; easy for any cheese-lover though I am not a big cheese fan(I personally hate goat/blue cheese, but I like the house blend here). The other highlight of the night was le rustique dish. It was superb, delicious, and the cream sauce was on point. We came without reservation but got seated right away at around 7pm on a Saturday night.

This restaurant is best known for its fondues. For those it does an excellent job in excellent Swiss tradition. For other food it’s rather mediocre. I must admit some surprise when the tagliatelle in pesto sauce was actually in a cream base. So… Stick to the fondues!

Pas la meilleure fondu ou raclette de Genève mais cool. De très grande table, raclette a gogo: parfait pour y aller avec une bande de pote! Des fois les serveurs sont un peu à la rue mais ca va rien de grave!

a very busy very quaint restaurant where people scrape the bottom of their cheese pots to get the cracked bit. although I tried to speak in French… I did revert to English and ourwaiter understood perfectly… however the whole time he spoke to us in French and we had no idea what he was saying. we … of course wanted to try the fondue and had seen dried meat alongside it… so we went for the chinoise… which is the most expensive dish in the menu… ie beef carpaccio to be dipped in a steaming mushroom and veggie flavoured broth. we did not know that we could have received a top up of our plate as there were only four slices of beef. absolutely ridiculous … the waiter would continue to talk to us in French… until the bill came… and then he became fluent in English showing us where the tip line was. lesson: if you do not understand ASKINENGLISH I was not impressed. there is plenty of really good fondue around Geneva… this only if you want to impress the wait staff.

Waiter was awesome, food was good as well. Being Switxerland, everything is a bit more pricey but outside of water literally costing more than beer, it was a great experience. The funny thing about restaurants in the area is that the Swiss cheeses tend to take over the smell of the room, so make sure you are ready for it! :)

I came here for dinner my first day in Geneva. Since prices for food everywhere around here hurt the wallet, I opted for a mixed salad with a single portion of raclette. Still overpriced, but slightly less pricy than the 25 franc/per person fondue for two. The salad was good and has a simple thin tangy dressing with carrot, tomato, cucumber and lettuce. The raclette was even better… a small plate of thick melted cheese served with small pickled onions, cornichons and a big basket of hot fingerling potatoes. An unusual combination, but delicious nonetheless. My husband had a smoked duck salad with bits of orange and gruyère. The duck was sparse but he still enjoyed it. But 21 francs? Eek. Apparently I’m still not over the price shock here. Anyway, service was great, very nice. Our server spoke decent English too, so that was great. He seated us in the front area of the restaurant where they seemed to seat all English speakers. Another note, if you’re looking for wine by the glass, ask for their wine list, because it’s tucked away towards the back of the book. I had a nice glass of a Johanneisburg white that wasn’t too pricey. All in all I’d say I’d come back because I do still want to try their fondue!

What do you do when you are tired of attending meetings in Geneva? Eat lots of cheese, of course! Restaurant Auberge de Savièse is a popular spot — among both locals and tourists — for Swiss specialties. The restaurant has been in business for more than 20 years serving happy patrons lots of fondue and raclette. We had to order the fondue and raclette after reading about many raves. You cannot go wrong with melted cheese, it is one of the best comfort foods in winter. Served with a side of cornishons and boiled potatoes, the Fondue au Poivre Vert(fondue with green peppercorns) is quite delightful. There is not much to write about in terms of fondue and raclette. It is melted cheese and it fills you up. It is hearty. It is comfort food. It is cheese, for cripes sake! We left full and satisfied after ingesting an unhealthy amount of cheese. It was glorious!

This is a great restaurant if you want traditional Swiss food(i.e. cheese, and lots of it!). I go for the raclette. If you are not familiar, raclette is both a kind of cheese, and as far as I know, a way to prepare it. Take a thick slice of raclette cheese and put it under a broiler until it is just turning brown. Serve with baby white potatoes and pickles and pearl onions. Be sure to have a glass of white wine. This is *really* good. They also have fondue, and other stuff, but I just go for the raclette. The interior is done up as a wood cabin. I have been fortunate to go(cross-country ski, actually) to a remote Swiss restaurant, and it looked almost identical to the interior of this place, so they have done a pretty good job for it being in the middle of town. That’s about it. It is a great place with really good broiled cheese! What more could you want?(Bacon?)

Located in the heart of Geneva, this restaurant is a great place to try fondues, raclette, and other traditional Swiss cuisines, especially if they involve a lot of cheese. However, if you’re not really into eating an entire vat of melted cheese, the lasagna here is also worth trying. The interior of the restaurant reminds me of a cottage. A bit touristy, but very rustic and charming. The food and service were very good. It was a great dining experience.
