Chalet Fontana

High in the Jungfrau region of the Swiss Alps you can join ski queen, Denise and stare out your bedroom window at massive peaks, Eiger, Monch, and the mother of them all, Jungfrau itself. Yes the window also looks out on the main road in Murren (pop. 448), but with no auto traffic, who cares?!? Besides, after hiking around for a few hours at that elevation you’ll sleep like a baby anyway. Lodging in Switzerland isn’t cheap, but Fontana is at least reasonable, and if you play your cards right Denise has a semi-​hidden jar of peanut butter to liven up your already hearty breakfast. From here you can explore the entire town in a few minutes. The bathrooms aren’t en suite, and there was one woman from … hmmm .whom I saw on two or three occasions, in flagrante delicto. Ahhhh, the Alps!
