The area around Lake Geneva is pretty pricey for hotels. I was torn between staying in Vevey or Montreaux. So I let Hotwire choose for me. When I found out it was the Hotel du Lac I was excited because I had read the 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor and Unilocal.Everyone loves this hotel. The hotel has a beautiful old charm about it and the views of the lake are beautiful. There was a wedding one of the nights we stayed and it was romantic. The hotel has a pool and an outdoor bar area. We enjoyed drinks in the interior bar one night and they are pretty expensive– $ 25 Euro for a champagne cocktail. We tried the local wines on the menu and they are a better value. The staff is welcoming and very friendly here. If my review was based on the staff I would have given the hotel 5 stars for the staff and the common areas are very nice. My review is based upon our room experience. Sometimes when you book a hotwire rate you are given the worst room in the hotel. We had a view of the parking lot which wasn’t a big deal. The room was quite lovely but on the small side. The bed was comfortable so that was great and I rate my hotels on sleep quality. I loved the linens and pillows too. The reason I am giving the review 3 stars is because we had the worst night’s sleep in this room on our entire European vacation. The air conditioning did not work and it was pretty hot in Vevey in June. We tried turning it to the left and to the right and there wasn’t any air. We finally opened the windows and then had a roomful of bugs. Ugh! Two nights of tossing of turning with little sleep because the room was too hot left me exhausted. We were excited for our next hotel in Nice. The second day we took a drive to Interlaken the next day and almost thought of staying in a different hotel there and just coming back in the morning to shower and get our luggage at the Hotel du Lac. We told the hotel staff about the room and they said they would check the air condition for us and make sure it works. So we had high hopes for the second night. We got in late and the air condition did not work so we opened all the windows in the bathroom and room to let a cool breeze and the bugs in. It’s hard to pay almost $ 600 for 2 nights and have the worst sleep. The parking fee is $ 40CHF a day. The more I pay for a hotel my expectations go up and I expect cool air conditioning. I’ve stayed in a lot of 4 and 5 star hotels in my life and this is the first one where the air condition did not work. Another weird thing was the morning of check out we went to get coffee and our car had been moved from the small parking area. We had to wait a long time for the keys. The staff came out with a key that was not ours. It seemed a little weird. Why was our car moved when we were about to check out and just went down the street for coffee. Upon returning our rental car there was a blemish to the car on the passenger fender. It occurred the same day we checked out. I don’t know if something happened when the car was parked in their offsite parking or by the valet. Whatever you do not rent a larger car in Geneva– get the smallest car because parking is an issue. We were charged $ 800 in rental car damage and it wasn’t something that we did. We will never know how it happened. We liked the valet a lot and he was nice, friendly and gave us directions. I wish I had the 5 star experience that everyone else did but we didn’t. The property and the staff is nice and my review would have been a 4 star if I had working air condition in our room.

very beautiful hotel with a very high comfort and excellent service! totally recommandable! Rooms: the rooms are very well made and beautifully designed. the bed is very comfortable and the view is just georgeous(dont forget to order view side)! Service: excellent service! there was not even one down-side. after one time ordering a cocktail the bartender even knew my name and my room number. Drinks: a cocktail costs around 25.-(a mojito royal even 33.-). Yes… thats a lot! but i have to say that those cocktails are really well made and they are one of the best i had. Food: unfortunately we could eat dinner at this place because it was already booked out(but i’d say that says everything). on tripadvisor their restaurant«les saisons» is number one in vevey. the breakfast buffet was one of the best i’ve seen! great variety from bacon and eggs over salmon till apple pie(NOMS!). price for the breakfast is 39.-(if you book over the hotel it is already included as i know) Ambience: very very beautiful hotel with an incredible view and excellent service. Cool thing is that you can sit outside at the border to the lake and enjoy a good cocktail in their garden with a beautiful view. OR you can just sit on your little balcony and have some more privacy. Perfect hotel to hang out on the weekends and enjoy life. just bring your big purse with you. or a credit card with a higher limit.

This hotel deserves one word, ‘LOVELY’. It is a true butique hotel. Everything was paid a lot of attention. Flowers are everywhere and very unique mixture of oriental and antique western furniture and decoration. Staff here are wonderful. Very friendly, polite and attentive. Great view from any window. Room is very cozy yet elegant. Bed… This is an insomnia’s dream bed. I slept so well. omg. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone who comes to Vevey.

Superb! Divine! I was here recently for a wedding and found both the hotel and the restaurant catering nearly otherworldly! I’ve traveled to every inhabited continent at least twice, and this was one of the finest boutique hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From arrival to departure, my every need was met and my expectations exceeded. The dinner was private, but featured the same waiters and chef of the restaurant. We had French-Asian fusion, course after course – 8 in all! The beef was incredible – hard to do well for a crowd – and the cheese course could not have been better. The service was so good none of us ever saw the waiters fill our wineglasses, and yet they were never empty. The hotel brunch is, once again, a stellar buffet with glasses of freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice. And the espresso was as good as it gets. Upon checkout, they even knew my name before I told them my room number, and arranged for an immediate taxi and handed me the train schedules as I dashed to catch my flight. Highest recommendation possible; though be advised, it’s not for everyone. A very expensive hotel, but well worth it.
