Probably some of the best Italian food I’ve had outside Italy. Friendly staff, top notch wood fired pizzas, and fresh, delicious pastas. Every member of the staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is quite ‘authentic’. It’s a staple for every one of my trips to Zermatt, and I’ll look forward to my next visit.

I’ve been here many times now and taken many friends and there has never been a complaint about the food. Great lasagne, wood fired oven pizza, and more Next time I may try the ribs which always look great Only complaint is that it is busy and I can’t get a table so make a reservation !!

Taste the authenticity of Italy. Value for money — yes. Service with a smile — yes. Authentic Taste — wood fire oven. Yay. Would I eat here again — yes indeed. From start to finish I felt I was in Italy. From the décor to the staff to the food it was all Italian and all right in the heart of Switzerland. I ordered the pizza and wasn’t disappointed. Great portion size. Excellent taste. I have no doubt all the other choices on the expansive menu would also be as satisfying. As I was leaving there were people waiting to be seated. Always a good sign they are doing something right. Belissimo Italiano.

We ordered the gnochchi, the fusili with wild boar ragu and the lasagna. All the three dishes were very flavorful and fresh. The boar ragu was a little on the chewier side but the flavor was fantastic! There is also a good bar downstairs which happened to have some amazing live music the night we visited.

The service here was great. Luzia Hess was very helpful in helping us pick vegetarian items. This is a located on the main street in Zermatt. It is a pub & pizza restaurant. The risotto & pizza were very good.

After a long afternoon of exploring the ski resort town of Zermatt my boyfriend and I were ravenous. Not being European we didn’t realize that most places don’t serve dinner until 6 or 7. Our waiter let us put our order in early — thank goodness! We both settled on pasta dishes & both were delicious. It was my first gnocchi experience and will probably be the best of my life as well. THe food is reasonably priced. There is live music. It is reasonably priced unlike most restaurants in town. It looked like it would be a blast at night with a nightclub in the basement. Although we had a good experience I’m not sure we would return. There are so many more restaurants to explore!

I have this belief that food at an Italian restaurant run by Italians rarely disappoints. Maybe it’s a little misguided, but they love their food and are so particular about it! Grampi’s, unfortunately, clearly proved me wrong. It wasn’t terrible, especially since the portions are huge and it’s a bit cheaper than the rest of(expensive) Zermatt, but it just wasn’t good. The starters – fish soup, minestrone soup, salmon carpaccio, beef carpaccio – were uninteresting and lacked flavor. The mains were not much better. Our seafood risotto was very wet, like rice in thick soup. There was a good variety of seafood and again, the portion was massive, but it was also under-seasoned and the rice was overcooked. The three other pasta dishes we ordered were also blah. Props for the homemade pasta but the tagliatelle was also too soft. My fusilli was quite thick and chewy(gnocchi-like) which I enjoyed and the ragu wasn’t half bad, probably the best out of the mediocre dishes. It’s a comfortable place with decent service and the décor’s rustic and homely with all the framed pictures on the ceiling, but I wouldn’t be coming back and won’t recommend it to my friends. Go to Pizzeria Roma instead!

In a town like Zermatt, where dinner and wine for two ends up with a check as tall as the Matterhorn, it is fortuitous to find a place where one can relax, people watch, eat a good meal, drink a good wine, and not have to go into your retirement savings… Well, after three days in Zermatt eating like royalty, we needed a good place where we could save some cash. Enter Grampi’s Pizzeria. Located on the second floor of a pub, and sandwiched between the pub downstairs and a restaurant upstairs, the pizzeria is a wonderful place for reasonably-priced and yet excellent Italian food. The beers are plentiful, the pasta genuine and the pizzas delightful. And all for about US $ 40 per person including wine and beer.
