Restaurant Orangerie

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch with his aunt and good golly was it a lot of food, and yummy food at that.
The inside is beautifully lit from large windows surrounding the dining area, and the people working here are very polite and friendly.
I had a salad with vegetarian crepes. The salads from Swiss restaurants are always so fun. They’ve usually got sweet little helpings of beets, carrots, sauerkraut, and multiple other things hidden under a comfy bed of lettuce. Yeah, I just called it comfy lettuce… lettuce can be comfy in super nice restaurants. Anyway, I thought the vegetarian crepes would be light, but boy was I wrong. The two crepes had a fluffy and amazing texture, and were packed full of mushrooms and other vegetables covered in a savory, heavy cream sauce. They were absolutely delicious, but perhaps a bit too heavy for me.
My boyfriend ordered the Zürigschnetzletes (a typical dish from Zurich, with beef in a savory brown sauce accompanied by a potato side similar to hash browns). Again, it was delicious and super heavy. The portion is also quite unbelievable… it could have easily fed two people. This is something I will continue not to understand, because I’m pretty sure it’s rude to share one entrée with two people, and you’re also not allowed to take it home. And there are fewer fat people in Switzerland than there are in the states… so I doubt everyone is finishing their meal. And then it’s thrown away… what?
So anyway, I’m done with my rant. The food was delicious and the waitstaff was very friendly. I had a wonderful time.
Mein Freund, die Tante von meinem Fruend, und ich, hatten Mitaggessen im Restaurant Orangerie. Es war sooo viele Essen und sehr sehr gut! Mein Fruend hat den Zürigschnetzletes bestellt und ich hatte die vegetarisch Crepes bestellt. Beides waren schwer und gut. Meine Crepes waren flockig und appetitlich und die Gemuese waren toll und sie waren in einer guten Sauce. Der Kellner war nett, freundlich, und schnell!

Ever felt like the waiter loathes you and would happily hock a loogie into your hastily dolloped hors d’oeuvres? This is somewhat how my colleagues and I felt at this restaurant, accommodating six on to a table of four was already a wholly preposterous notion! Plus the meaty ravioli gave me heartburn, far from a happy dining experience.

Per zufall dort vorbei gelaufen, mal rein geschaut, Wauw. Mitten in Zürich und man hat das Gefühl irgndwo anders zu sein. Das Restaurant ein Bijou und der Garten im Sommer erst recht. Das Essen war sehr gut, da stimmt das Preisleistung verhältnis.
