Fantastic hidden spot for some upscale but not fussy dining. The value is a steal at 30 euros a person for a set dinner menu with 3 courses and a bottle of wine(and coffee and bread)! The tomato salad(5⁄5) — very refreshing and light. The shrimp on top were fantastic and fresh. Overall couldn’t ask for a better starter Seafood rice starter(4⁄5) — very tasty if you like the taste of the sea. It was also very filling. It could have been a tad salty but I mean you’re eating incredible shellfish from the sea so what do you expect. Definitely not shy about seasoning here. Hakke with vegetables(5⁄5) — this was like eating a cloud. The fish was perfectly cooked and light yet filling. Iberian secret pork(4⁄5) — it was very tender. I’ve had better slow cooked pork but this was done very well and elegantly. Strawberry yogurt dessert(4⁄5) — nothing revolutionary but very tasty Service was fast, friendly, and English-speaking. I was so happy to eat here I wouldn’t mind returning the next night!

In our first night in San Sebastián we wanted to try some of the delicious fare we’ve heard so much about it. We stumbled upon this cute spot on a walk. We entered the restaurant area and of course didn’t have a reservation(ps if you’re coming to this town and want to sample the restaurants its best to get a reservation) cool thing about this place is they have a bar where they serve the same delicious food in a casual environment, no reservations needed and s view. The service was great! We are practicing Spanish and the waiter couldn’t have been more helpful and encouraging as we stumbled through our bad Spanish. Now for the main reason you’re reading this: the food. The best I have had! We started with the tomato salad with olive oil and tuna, then worked our way to the bonito tartare with guac and a gazpacho like sauce, and finally the asado lamb… We rolled out of there with a huge smile on our face. 1 Amazing restaurant down and only 437 more to go in San Sebastián!

We dined in 3 different places in Donostia; this Bar Restaurante NARRU in the basement of the hotel Niza, almost across La Perla Thalasso-sport center, is for sure the best one ! Make sure you book at least one day in advance to get a table there. The staff is amazingly ultra friendly there and discreet. We really had an amazing time ! We very much enjoyed the food ! We could see the difference compared to the other nice restaurants we attended the two nights before ! Here the food is subtitle and uniquely prepared: you don’t have the impression of a «déjà vu» with the other menus of nice restaurants around here ! Don’t miss the place with a 30 € menu ! You won’t for sure regret it !

Go here and sit outside around 930pm when the sun is setting. It is truly an amazing experience. We only ate a salad and had the queso crème dessert, both of which were great. Service was slow and not very nice but everything else was perfect.

I really want too impressed with this place. The food was okay but really not great. The rice in the risotto was too hard and the other things we ordered were nothing special either. The service was super slow and not very nice.

The ingredients are good but we’ve been twice and both times most of the dishes were over salted. Some of the servers were very friendly. Others plainly incompetent. Good wine list fairly priced. Probably we will not go again.

So delicious and very nice staff! I started with a glass of delicious wine — Izada 2007 Rioja(2.35 euro) while I waited for a table around 9:15 pm last night. The restaurant was busy but it only took about 15 minutes for a table to be ready for me. I brought a book(and got a lot of reading done!) since I was dining alone. I also enjoyed the beautiful beach views though and ran outside to snap a photo of the orange sky during sunset. Once at my table, I started with the risotto with mushrooms and foie gras. I don’t usually eat much meat(and foie is illegal in California) but I thought, «when in Rome» and it was delicious and only 3 euro. Then I ordered a dish of fish including anchovies, peppers, onions, olive oil and bonito. It was simple but delicious. I believe it was meant to be eaten over bread but I’m avoiding gluten so I enjoyed it straight. I also ordered another glass of the wine. After I was finished eating, I waited about 30 minutes for my check but realized I needed to ask for it — they would have let me stay all night! This was an amazing meal at a Michelin recommended restaurant for less than 20 euro! I would definitely visit if/when I hopefully make it back to San Sebastián!

After reading the positive reviews for Narru on Unilocal,my husband and I decided to try it out for dinner. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. The set menu was nothing short of delicious(although they do have an a la carte menu as well). My husband ordered the tomato and mozzarella salad with the meat dish(taco de lomo maybe??) and I had the revuelto(scrambled eggs) with mushrooms for starter and cod dish as an entrée. We were both more than pleased with the taste and portion size. We both had the crema de queso dessert with this cookie crumble(think a deconstructed cheesecake) which was the cherry on top of our meal. Add that to the fact that wine(bottle, not glass), bread(with amazing olive oil), and coffee was included in the 26 € per person price and it just can’t be beat. I know there are a lot of nice restaurants in the area, but Narru was perfect for us: a delicious, fresh, relatively inexpensive meal with good service. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to San Sebastian.

We were pleasantly surprised by Narru. Although we wanted to try the tasting menu, we arrived too late. I got the shrimp tapa, the goat cheese and tomato salad, and my husband got the mussels. I also got a risotto tapa. They were all excellent. I am usually the first person to avoid a hotel restaurant, but they wowed me here. Everything was super fresh and delicious.

First, the address on Unilocal is incorrect. The actual address is Calle Zubieta, 56 San Sebastián(not Calle Miguel Imaz, 10). Second, of all the places that I have eaten thus far in Spain this is one of my favorite. I havent been to any of the Michelin star restaurants though so take that however you will. I’ve had 5 different pinchos there: 1. Alita — some type of small bird over a bead of potato.(AMAZING) 2. Langostinos — langostines with diced tomato an aioli and balsamic(AMAZING) 3. Rissotto — with mushrooms. Very cheesey and very good 4. Arroz — this dish had crispy rice from the bottom of the pan and shrimp(AMAZING) 5. Bonito — this was my least favorite dish but it was still quite good! Skip eating at Café de la Concha and walk about 50 meters more to Narru.

Hooray for the strike! Never thought I’d hear myself utter those words, but were it not for the entire country of Spain going on strike(huelga general) during our time in San Sebastian, I doubt we’d have decided to dine in our hotel’s restaurant, Narru. Thankfully they remained open during the strike unlike every single other establishment in the area | Thankfully they seemed happy to have the company while everyone else seemingly was enjoying their strike time at home | And thankfully the food was quite good, no disappointing hotel grub here We opted for the ‘menú del día’ as any smart Basque consumer would, and got ourselves back into our familiar degustation mode quickly. For a reasonable € 26/person we had our choosing of several starters, a main dish, a dessert and a bottle of wine, each. Hmmm… did you read that correctly? I said A BOTTLEOFWINEEACH. Included. And with generous choices like either a Finca Del Marquesado Crianza Rioja, Con Class Verdejo, or Inurrieta Mediodia Rosado, we officially crossed over into ‘wine is now cheaper than water’ territory and how! God Bless the Basque. We could all learn a lesson. Dishes like the ravioli de champiñones, arroz marinero con cococha and lomo bajo asado crème de piquillo confitado were pretty damn exquisite while a small misfire occurred in a lukewarm and relatively bland fish of the day preparation. Use your group’s collective ordering power to try a bit of everything — and don’t miss the crema de queso con migas crujientes de mantequilla dessert(see pic). A loose cheesecake with a beautifully caramelized top, it was undoubtedly sent from the heavens, and, is the idyllic compliment to your personal bottle of wine. Like you needed one.

We stayed at the Niza hotel, Narru is the restaurant in the hotel. They have a café upstairs where you can have drinks, tapas or a morning coffee. The very chic restaurant is downstairs. The food was quite delicious, monkfish cooked perfectly and steak mouthwatering. Nice service, not stuffy. Usually throughout Spain we found most restaurants have a set menu offering which is very affordable and always served with wine, sometimes a bottle or they refill your glass. The menu here came with a very nice appetizer and dessert choice, amazing. Highly recommended.
