Bar Mirador el Estanque

The churros were expensive and not fresh. The chocolate was cold and not completely liquid. The staff was rude, and when it started to rain they refused to let us use their umbrellas. The only potentially redeeming quality of this place is the location, but there are several other similar places nearby, so try one of them.

I have been to Madrid twice and both times have made time to eat at this café. It wasn’t for the food or the service — its for the view! This café is right next to the Estanque at Parque del Retiro and its hard to beat!
The service this most recent time was actually great — the waitress came right away and was quite attentive. The first time, I sat there about 15 min before anyone came over to take my order. So I’m not sure what is the norm here.
The coffee is fine. We had paella this second visit which was quite greasy — though in Spain thus far I’ve yet to have a not greasy paella — if you’re reading this — please let me know if you know of a place! :)
There are also a lot of pigeons that have figured out there is free food to be had here so we tried to sit far away from one family who was feeding the birds and causing a huge flock.
Overall, I would recommend to come here and have a coffee at the park!

Not a bad little bar it’s got a great outdoor patio. Not quite as expensive as you’d expect a place like this to be. Considering it’s right in the middle of Retiro park. But it’s still a bit on the pricey side. Watch your belongings. Thieves are abound.

What an awesome café right across from the pond at Parque del Retiro. Amazing view while dining or drinking outside. The service was great — even though we came in about half hour to closing and ordered food (sorry!). Though it was close to closing time, our food came out quickly and delicious and we did not feel rushed at all. The waiter was funny and super friendly.
For food, we ordered two individual plates of Paella de Mariscos. Though it was delicious, I wish there was more seafood than 1 shrimp and 1 oyster! A pitcher of sangria on the side was great!

En pleine visite du magnifique parc de Retiro, nous souhaitions nous arrêter pour manger quelque chose. À deux pas du Palais de Cristal, le Mirador propose une super terrasse et une carte plutôt complète: hot dog, burger, pattes carbonara et bolognaise, pizza et même paella.
Nous nous installons et commandons une portion de pâte à la carbonara ainsi qu’une paella de riz à l’encre de seiche à partager à deux.
Les spaghettis arrivent, fade à la vue et aussi fade en bouche… On aurait dit une pasta box versée dans une assiette…
La paella suit, pas immonde mais manquant vraiment de saveurs et bien loin de la photo présentée sur le menu. Trois moules, quatre calamars et quelques crevettes.
En résumé, un petit lieu qui dépanne si vous êtes en pleine visite du parc et né souhaitez pas en sortir pour manger mais à éviter si vous êtes sur la fin de votre visite.

Amazing location at the pond, in te middle of a great park. Just a café but place and location is superior
