I enjoyed my visit to Home Kitchen! It was a cool space that felt both intimate and trendy at the same time — perfect for a casual dinner with friends. I had their elderflower presse and also a cup of pumpkin soup with a salad. Definitely California-y vibe with its healthy, daily-rotation menu. If you’re missing that, try Home Kitchen for sure for some light fare. Not mindblowing by any means, but prices are totally reasonable and the space is great.

Home Kitchen is one of those places that could be really amazing but they’re just not. Set aside the fact that it’s a classic copy of the California hipster style bar/restaurant, I’m happy that Czechs have started thinking about new concepts, even if it’s copying others to start with. What bothered me though, was the presentation of food. The daily offer is on display on a central table and anyone who knows anything about displaying food will tell you that even the yummiest and best looking food will whimper away and look unappetizing after sitting out there for longer than half an hour. So why, WHY would you want to «attract» people to order something from the menu by «presenting» it this way? That’s number one. Number two was that the portions presented didn’t reflect the actual portions you get, which we only found out about later. From the choice of musaka, pasta and burger, I went with the burger(a no meat mushroom burger, which wasn’t clear from the display nor the description — it just said«burger») as I was starving and it looked like the biggest portion. Keep in mind that this is a higher end priced place, especially if you compare it to other daily menu offers you can get in Prague. The burger was good, no complaints(other that I wasn’t aware it’ll be vegetarian) but only when the guy sitting next to me at the central«communal» table ordered the pasta did I realize that you actually do get a real size portion of the other dishes as well. What logic lead them to present an appetizer size of a dish next to the price of 180CZK thinking that it’ll draw people to order it, is beyond me. In general, it was a nice, pricy(you have to take into account that for the price of 20EUR for a lunch for 2 you can get much more quality and quantity in Prague) meal but I won’t go out of my way to go back there. Unless I’m in the neighborhood and looking for a really great cup of coffee, cause that’s one thing that was truly exceptional at Home Kitchen.

Good place. VERY small, and the daily offerings are just our in display on a long a sideboard. No particular cuisine here — really like an eclectic home cook’s repetoire. Quality ingredients and friendly service as well. Why only three stars then? Not sure. The horseradish soup I had was really good, as was the spinach quiche and the Czech buchty with a white wine vanilla sauce. Maybe it’a just a hard place to pin down. And it is REALLY small.

Es ist perfekt. Tolles Ambiente. Ruhige Nebenstrasse, keine Touristen.

I passed by this place on a whim awhile back and then only recently Unilocaled it and was glad to see that it had such positive reviews, so I came by last night. Really tiny place that has a daily menu that’s limited, but done well. We had three different soup options – peanut cream, broccoli, and chicken broth. I ordered a small chicken broth soup and got the entrée – turkey teriyaki with jasmine rice. Mmmm it was really, really good. They also had a lot of salad options and sandwich options if the main entrée wasn’t your thing. The chicken broth is pretty much what you would have expected, and the turkey teriyaki was an interesting interpretation of a traditionally Japanese dish. I think there were traces of peanut flavor in it which is what was throwing me off, but all in all, it was still very delicious. Total bill came out to be 230kc – 180 for the entrée and 50 for the small soup. tldr; tiny place so don’t come with too many people with delicious daily specials. check online if you want to know what’s being offered! English friendly too
