Our last trip to Europe included three nights in Prague and this place was recommended by the staff at our hotel since we were looking for traditional Czech food and it was only a 15 minute walk away. It’s a traditional beer hall type of place which was clearly popular due to the crowd. I ordered the beef goulash which came with bread roll dumplings and red sauerkraut– the goulash was very good and had some heat in the seasoning; the dumplings tasted good but were really dense /heavy however the sauerkraut was good. My partner had a similar meal except he had the roast duck instead of goulash — the duck was cooked perfectly. The staff was friendly and If you’re looking for authentic Czech food at a reasonable price, this is a good place to consider.

I ordered goulash, hot wings and big pork rib. The wings covered with very sweet sauce, but those were good. But the rib was really dry though we enjoyed it. And the goulash was NOT good for me. It is kind of traditional food, so I do not recommend it :( The place was nice and our server was also nice! And the price was reasonable!

I dragged everyone here because I wanted an authentic Czech food experience. Because, seriously, we are in Prague — what better place to get Czech food? As expected, the items on the menu tend heavy and meaty. Potato pancakes are a staple(they have the consistency like a Chinese mantou), as are goulash, roasts and stews. We visited in the dead of summer, so yeah, maybe it wasn’t the best idea. The lamb chops looked amazing, but my goulash wasn’t shabby either. It was hearty, tender, with a hint of chile peppers. It worked, even though it wasn’t the best goulash in the world. The sides were a bit on the bland side, but I just ate it all with the stew, which worked out well. Of course, service is slow as hell, and sometimes it’s hard to get the waiters to understand non-Czech speakers. But ah well, it didn’t really offend. I’m sure there are better places than some touristy chain, but this delivers and would give you a good variety of Czech food to taste.

I spent a lot of time in Prague for business and this place and their other locations was really good. I liked the goulash and all of the desserts they offered. The service was attentive and they also had a good selection of Czech beers. I’ve recommended to others going there and they were also satisfied. Will pop in again the next time I get over there.

If long shift is an excuse to be rude then waiter and waitress shouldn’t work so long. Walk in 2230 for dinner, service here CAN ruin the whole beauty Prague. Perhaps I don’t speak CZ?

Dinner time: pretty big place. Perfect for big size parties. We didn’t have reservations but got seated right away. Had the lamb shank and meat platter and it’s good. Meat platter is a huge portion. Beer selection is great! Over all food was good, nice environment.

Dropped by here for dinner after hotel front desk recommended it. Really great food — I shared the mixed grill entrée with my coworker and we loved it. The meat comes Brazilian bbq style on a stick. Everything was well seasoned, and even the corn and green bean sides that came with it were very tasty. Try it out!

Hmmm. Think I found the Applebees of the Czech Republic. The food at this chain was pretty mediocre. Interior was extremely loud even on a night where they weren’t that busy. Service was good and the location was very convenient to my hotel, but meh.

Excellent lunch al fresco! Typical Czech food. We had the goulash with potato pancakes, plate of tender and tasty sausages, and the über tasty pork knuckle. The house special soup was amazing as well. Service was efficient and the staff very proud if their food! If you want the real deal, you will not be disappointed!

My husband and I came here for some traditional Czech food. I was craving Svickova while my husband ordered the goulash. I couldn’t stop raving over my dish and the goulash was also thoroughly enjoyed! Great atmosphere, nice service and great prices! YUM!

On the suggestion of a tour guide, I tried this place out which was very near my hotel. Loved it!!! I know this is a chain of some sort but the food was wow super tasty and great beer on tap. I went twice while recently working in Prague. Both times I got this really good traditional Czech soup that was sorta of like a sour potato dill cream soup in which they drop in a poached egg and slice of thick bacon. Wow did that go good with beer. A mason jar of cold pickled sausages and veggies you say? Yes I had that and again, awesome with beer. The other visit I had the big slobby Czech platter which is a big casserole dish loaded with sausages, roasted pork knuckle,(they call it pork knee) ¼ roasted duck, several types of dumplings and bread to sop up all the greasy gravy goodness. Friendly service and very comfortable place. And wow the beer in the Czech is like no other. I wish they would open one of these where I live.

Amazing food! I had the Morovian Sparrow plate, a traditional Czech Republic dish and I was not disappointed. The serving was very generous! The pork was tender, the cabbage & sauerkraut amazingly delicious! It was also served with a Czech side dish called knedlik. Our server Christina was very nice and helped us with choosing our fare. I’ll be back if ever I return to the Czech Republic for sure!

We were a family group of seven who wanted traditional Czech food. Our hotel sent us here with a reservation. We were jet lagged and had a little bit of trouble finding it, but we learned our way around old town that night. The servers were waiting happily for us and treated us like family. The best part of the meal was the beer and appetizers! We got a plate with pickled sausages and cheese. We got entrees of the meat platter. I loved the potato pancakes and the bread dumpling. The goulash was okay, by my American palate, the meat was a little gamey. The beer was the best part and our server would surprise us with a typical pilsner and then provide us with a dark beer for a change. For a group of seven, our dinner check was quite reasonable.

Prost!!!

Excellent restaurant, now been to two of the Kolkovna restaurants in Prague. Great salads, soups, and of course beer. Traditional menu with fresh ingredients. Service is good and the atmosphere really nice. Also prices are reasonable. These restaurants are well run.

Indifferent service. Missed our soup order. The waiters have to run(literally) around the huge and noisy place, too few of them for too many customers. Noisy so forget having a decent conversation unless you are seated outside. Food was very good. Hamburgers were very good, the half duck was very good, the smoked sausage in beer was very good and spicy. In all food is good, but the service was below average hence the rating.

Cozy and clean atmosphere; plenty of room inside and outside. Good prices, good quality food. Both the little bites that you eat with the beer and the main dishes like the goulash are very good.

This restaurant was recommended by our friends who live in Prague. It has authentic Czech food and other items on the menu, which has been created by Chef Jan Ludvík. We had the pilsen goulash, Chef’s Turkey Schnitzel & hamburger. All were terrific. It was late so no beer for us. The best part it was right around the corner from our hotel Hilton Prague Old Town. Check out the menu. It was the best Czech meal we had in Prague.
