Prague is a city out of a fairy tale and guess what the cafes and dessert restaurants are from that place too. I noticed Cacao while coming back from one of our hectic excursions and we went their on back to back nights. The first night we went around 10 pm and they were about to close but still gave us first class service and i used the Unilocal offer for 2 for 1 scoops for ice cream which was delicious. Since we liked it so much guess what we were back again and this time i had 4 scoops of delicious ice cream along with a mocha cheesecake. They were super busy. All the tables were full and one of the managers offered the table he was working on. The staff is super nice and the service is on point. All the deserts look amazing and i wish i could try them all. I don’t think we are going for a 3rd night in a row but never say never.

Cutest little café with outside seating as well as indoor couches and chairs etc. Super duper clean and well maintained. After stuffing ourselves with dinner this evening, Sam M wanted to try Cacao. He had seen this place a few times while walking and was ready to eat here. We arrived here near to closing and the employees didn’t rush us but I felt bad coming only 20 minutes before closing, they gave us great service even then. The prices and portions are great. We are always converting everything in dollars. This seemed cheaper than most ice cream places in U.S. As well as other countries in Europe. Not only was the price good but also the product. My hot chocolate was decadent and full of cocoa and richness. Sam M ordered two scoops of ice cream and got a discount with Unilocal check for the ice cream {winning and Unilocaling on vacation}… He also ordered a orange lemonade which consisted of fresh fruit and fizz(I’m assuming sparkling beverage) and fresh lemonade. His lemonade was very refreshing since I shared some with him, of course for reviewing purposes as well as trying everything he had to be the fatty at heart that I am. All in all, this café is a must for desserts, drinks, ice cream etc while your in Náměstí Republiky area.~

I have been coming here for years(when visiting Prague) and I really like this place. Initially I came here for the breakfasts. They offered an excellent menu selection at a reasonable price. Since my last visit, the interior has been overhauled and it has a much more distinct café feel that encourages people to stay and enjoy the atmosphere. It is a beautiful improvement. You will find more cakes and such than individual bakery items. You won’t be disappointed by the selection or the service.

I think I had too much hope for this place. At most it was alright. I’ve been here twice now. The first time I picked up the very interesting Muffin ice cream which had a really interesting texture and was extremely decadent. I thought it was good. A bit too much for my tastes but perfect for Chocolate lovers. I wanted to try the other flavors but the next time I came back they only had a small selection. I also got some caramel latte which I also thought was good. My second visit was more disappointing. I was itching to come back to try the beautiful cakes on display. To my disappointment, they looked way better than they tasted. My friend and I were able to try 4 different cakes, and none of them were amazing. The best one was the caramel pecan cheesecake, and the rest(raffael, orange chocolate, and cacao) were mediocre. They tasted stale and not fresh at all. I also got the Tango, an alcoholic ice cream beverage with Baily’s, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, syrup, and whipped cream. Although it sounds amazing, it was really gross to be honest. Even at 120 crowns, I took one sip and I was done. The best thing is still their gelato, which again they had limited flavors. We got the strawberry and mango yogurt. The strawberry isn’t bad. TLDR: Mediocre & not as great as it seems on Unilocal.Go somewhere else if you want good cakes. They do make for great pictures though.

It was so good I came back a second time during a weekend break in Prague! I had the same thing each time too — a fantastic slice of caramel pecan cheesecake. Absolutely delish They serve decent coffee and bring a small glass of water. They have a fab cheesecake menu but they can sell out pretty quick. If you’ve a sweet tooth you need to make sure you visit here!

I loved the decadent hot chocolate here. Made with 72% cocoa and in a huge mug this was pure luxury in a cup :-)) what more can you want ? They have a huge menu of drinks, cocktails, teas, frappes, hot chocolates, food, ice cream and on and on the list goes. I had a really hard time deciding so I settled for the one drink which is what this place should be really about, given the name cacao ;-)) I would come back here daily for this one thing alone if I could. It’s not cheap at about € 5 but what the heck, you only live once ;-)) A really nice and cool looking shop with locals and tourists enjoying a cuppa or some food. I am glad we found this walking around town. It’s just a stones throw from the palladium shopping center.

Cacao is a cute café in a good location. The employees are nice and they speak English so no worries there. They accept credit cards and Euros. The gelato everyone raves about… they are good but the best… I have had better gelato in Italy and US. I also ordered an breakfast sandwich… it was huge but tasted okay. I tried to order kitchen menu at night as well but was told the kitchen was closed for some reason. Now the coffee items here are absolutely delicious. My friend and I both agreed their Macchiato was great. My friend ordered one of the smoothies but she forgot to ask them to put ice in the smoothie so it came out lukewarm, and it was disgusting. Europeans don’t like ice so don’t forget to ask for it. So this place wasn’t mind-blowing but still pleasant with decent food, great coffee, and also the assurance of the English speaking skills of the staffs.

Landed here late afternoon after a long day touring Starometske. It’s just down the road from the Obecni Dum where I planned to attend a concert later, so I hung out at Cacao while I waited. Amazing selection of teas, coffees and deserts as well as a few things to eat. I wish I had had more time to try their gelato and desserts, but for that one hot summer afternoon when I was there I opted for a refreshing exotic Thai tea and a blueberry cheesecake. Kind of an odd choice now that I think about it, but I was hungry and tired :). Wish I had tried their gelato which other reviewers had raved about — had my phone right there and free wifi so could have looked up Unilocal… No worries, it was all delicious! I don’t think you can go wrong at this café, it’s a great place.

Cacao is on my way to the gym so I stop here several times per week. The coffee is great and the prices are outstanding. It’s actually cheaper to sit down for coffee here than to pick it up from one of the stands outside of Palladium. The quality is better too. Great service, great coffee, and great ice cream.

Bam! Delicious. Came here after finding this place on Unilocal!(And noticing the great 2 for 1 check-in offer) We only ordered dessert(gelato and dark chocolate cake) but what we got was heaven. Seriously some of the best gelato I’ve ever had and this is only minutes after eating some more delicious gelato across town. «Two desserts in one night?!» You ask? Yes, awesome, we were burning our czk in a delicious last-night-in-Prague fashion.

The very best gelato I have had in my life, and I’ve had my share of gelato(all over the world). If you like coconut, you have got to try the coconut gelato here… I promise you you’ll love it!!! In addition to great gelato this was(is) a great stop for a quick lunch. Good service, excellent food and reasonably priced!

There is no way I can give Cacao fewer than 5 stars. Hot chocolate: so much yes. They have a «decadent» one, which is dark(72%) chocolate. They have one with nutella. They even have one with bananas and rum(and also Bailey’s). And all of their hot chocolate drinks are super thick and melty, like basically drinking melted quality chocolate. Gelato: best coconut ice cream/gelato/frozen dessert I have ever had in my entire life, period. Staff: so nice. Couldn’t be better. Location: the best. Right on a cute little square, close to the Marriott and Hilton Old Town, close to the old town square, and perfect for an after-dinner snack.

Yumm! Great desserts and service. I was hoping for something cheap and quick, but got cheap and fancy! My large Samoa was only 100 kr, which is not bad for such a beautiful place. Also Unilocalers, make sure you CHECK-IN, because you may get a two scoop coupon deal — definitely will be coming back to use that.

When you exit the Palladium Shopping Centre and in Rocky Horror terms, «you take a jump to the left» you land four square in the centre of ice cream heaven — Cacao. Homemade, rich, blended to perfection, this is nothing short of art and seduction of the senses. If you are tired of factory flavours and you want the real thing — take that«jump to the left» to Cacao. Be prepared for a taste sensation! And as an extra bonus why not drop by for a cold draught beer with your friends, relax in the sun outside, and watch the world go by?

Seriously? I haven´t written a review for this awesome place yet? Shame on me. So here we go to fix this mistake. Definitely one of the best cafes in Prague. Not only because of service. Service is amazing btw. But because of the offer of ice cream, smoothies, cakes, sandwiches etc. They make their own ice cream and they do it at the same place so it goes straight from maker to customer. And I like how they experiment with flavours. You can find many unusual ones and they are delicious. Delicous are also smothies. They have a lot of variants from purely vegetable or fruity ones to mixed ones, or better say experimental ones. Like mixing some kind of fruit with vegetable. It´s not a place for common lunch as to which many people are used to. But they have a sandwiches or baguettes. And everything is fresh and high quality so it´s perfect for breakfast or light lunch or just snack during the day. And coffee? Coffee from doubleshot can´t usually dissapoint. Plus tea from Tea Mountain. Perfect combination. So you haven´t been here yet? You should fix this mistake.

*REVIEWFORGELATOONLY!* I came here for the gelato and I can say that after having Angelato yesterday, this did not compare whatsoever. This gelato was a bit too cold, making it hard, so it didn’t have the right texture. I usually get nocciola or pistachio, but they didn’t have either of those flavors so I got chocolate and tiramisu for fun. The chocolate wasn’t a very deep, bold flavor and the tiramisu was nothing memorable. It was really just mediocre.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Atlantic which was walking distance from Cacao, and I’m really glad we decided to check this place out! They have a gorgeous patio facing the square with plenty of seating, and a huge menu with plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. They also offer a huge variety of desserts. I had a strawberry iced tea from here, and it was phenomenal. My husband had an espresso, and he greatly enjoyed it. We decided to come back later in the evening for some gelato since I was craving ice cream, and the gelato was fantastic! I had the cookie gelato, and while I couldn’t tell you what kind of cookie it was, it was so good I wanted to go back for seconds(and the only reason I didn’t was because I was super full). If you’re in Prague and want a place to relax and/or get great gelato, go to Cacao. You will not be disappointed.

Ok. It is official I want to have babies with the food and ice cream here. This place is amazing, heavenly, and surprisingly decently priced for being so close to tourist central. I have been twice now: once for ice cream, which let me tell you, even thought I am not a huge ice cream fan, I would seriously consider stocking in my fridge at all times and slowly, bite by perfectly creamy bite restrainedly eating each tub for over a month just to relish it for the sublimeness that it is. The second time was for coffee and cake. HOLYCRAPTHECAKE!!! Now, I bake. It is how I relieve stress, I am pretty good at it too. However, I may never make chocolate cake again because I know it will never in a million years be as inspired as the cake I ate on Tuesday. Oh yeah, and the latte was pretty fan-flipping-tastic as well. It is a must for everyone!
