When Prague is cold, the perfect remedy can be found here – ginger tea. This small French restaurant has excellent, friendly service, and very good food. I got a chicken sandwich on a baguette and left very full. This was also a good change of pace from the heavy meat dishes that Prague usually serves. My friend and I also got macarons, which were delicate and well-made. Good for on the go snacking.

Oh yeah. This place just keeps moving up in my world. Between the wait staff that waves every time I walk by, to their patience with me as I fumble through ordering in Czech and the way they always tell me my Czech is sooooo good, I am just falling more and more in love. Plus it seems that their coffee has gotten way way better. It is still a little pricey, but I find it worth it just to hear how good my horrible Czech is.

We went here after going to register for residency. The appointment was so early(8:15am) that we didn’t eat breakfast yet. It is a rarity to be able to find breakfast and even more so, this early in the morning. I was happily surprised. We were served long fluffy hot omelettes that were light on the cheese and ham. I couldn’t actually finish the thing, because it was too big for my stomach, but unexpectedly marveled at this thinly folded egg. We also had crunchy, ever so slightly glazed baguettes with butter and marmalade in the cutest little jars. The Gourmand also came with a croissant that had slivers of baked dough on flaky. There is a ginger tea that will kick your cold right in the tookus. It worked for me. There is an interesting drink that neither of us has tried before. It’s hot fresh squeezed orange juice with ginger tea. There are big windows for people watching and quite a few people walk past. Especially funny is when someone is double parked and traffic piles up behind them. We will recommend it to visitors that don’t want the humdrum of the hostel or hotel breakfast.

Bön žůr, an tábl pur trua?
