A great find. It feels like a dive when you go in the front door, just a small bar. But the dining is in the back. This place serves great(at least to me!) Czech food. I had the pork elbow, a slow-roasted chunk of bony fatty pork with plenty of meat to carve out. If Czechs order pork knuckle, I am told it is traditional to share it with the others at the table. I don’t know if this is true of the elbow as well. But it could be, it is a large serving. It came with sauerkraut, horseradish, dark mustard, and pickles(cucumber and pepper). I ordered a side of mashed potatoes, wonderful flavor, made with bacon. They pour Pilsner Urquell as a house beer, which goes down easy. While there are many good restaurants at all price points in Prague, next time I am there I just might go back here anyway.

This pub is a DIVE and I love it. I stumbled in after a crap day at work and haven’t really left since. The food is ok, the beer is on the cheaper side, it is smokey as hell but it is the staff that keeps me coming back. Between the three little men who work there who are always so nice to me and my friends, to the Czech lady who scowls at EVERYONE and absolutely dreads me coming in, I am pretty sure, I always have the best time here. Last night it was all about joining in on a birthday party after photo bombing them a couple of times on my way to the bathroom, before finally being invited to sit down. Several beers later, I had been hit on by the grandfather and the youngest boy at the table, put lipstick on the dude passed out at the table, sang happy birthday to the birthday boy and had a generally awesome time. Although you wouldn’t think it, this sort of thing happens to me more often than not here. It is always a good time.
