4.75 The .25 deduction is due only to the bright lights and early closing time. As it turns out, the Czech don’t stay out that late. So it’s quite a shock to the system when coming from Western Europe where dinner doesn’t start until eight and bars don’t get going until ten at the earliest. Useful tip: in Prague, dinner is at 6⁄7 and you should be tucked into bed by midnight. Anyhoo, back to this place. Excellent wine at very reasonable prices(about 4 – 6 euros each). Open, welcoming space that feels inviting. Helpful staff who know the wine and explain it well in English. But, as I said, the fluorescent lighting was a bit much. But this seems to be a going theme in Prague. Perhaps they like a well-lit meal? Wine drinking tip in the Czech Republic: the red wine are not great. They tend to have Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish wines on the menu(thumbing their nose at France perhaps?) for the red drinkers. I did not try the whites, but I hear they are good. All in all, this place was a win.
