Sehr leckeres Essen.

Reine Gaumenfreude. Exzellent und nur zu empfehlen.

This long time restaurant was able to squeeze us in and I’m so glad they did. First because it was up a steep hill from our hotel and secondly because the food turned out to be extraordinary. Every dish that we had was scrumptious. Started with Klobasky: Variety of grilled sausages with spicy mustard, Plnene Prso: Chicken breast stuffed with Prague ham and sundried tomatoes, roasted fresh vegetables and herbs in a pan /zucchini, eggplant, peppers, Kostěné kolínko :Boneless pork knee with dark beer sauce, glazed root vegetables, roasted potato gnocchi. Gracious staff and all prepared in a restaurant that has been in existence since 1895 as I understand it. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Omg! This place is heavenly. We were in Prague for a couple of nights and the locals recommended this place. It makes me sad to remember this awesome restaurant… Great food, great prices and I’m so far!!! We had the garlic soup and the pork knees, the house wine was really great as well. The best gnocchi I’ve ever had and we stop in Italy before. If you are around the neighborhood lucky you… Stop by and have a fantastic dinner for me!

U Kroka, let me sing your praises!!! My best testimonial is that I ate here 4 times out of my 8 days in Prague. Total yum. Situated near the Vyton tram stop, away from all the tourist hysteria, this places serves up superior quality food in a cosy high quality restaurant environment. Everything I tried was equally superior, with options for both omnivore and vegetarian palates – chicken schnitzel, stuffed chicken breast with mixed vegetables, beet salad with pesto, potato gnocchi. To top it off, the prices are incredibly reasonable. I couldn’t cook this stuff at home for what they charge! If you are a lone diner, you may be able to sneak in without a reservation, but definitely consider booking in advance or you may be disappointed. Of note, although it’s not worthy of a star deduction, the service here can be hit or miss. I particularly noticed it on a day that I went between normal service hours(a Sunday, after the lunch rush, before the traditional dinner hour). There was one server who had it out for me! When I asked to substitute the potato gnocchi for mashed potatoes, she icily challenged me «It’s possible, but that would be too dry.» Wow, au contraire mon ami, I know what want! She eventually put my request through, though I ended up being charged for a full extra side of gnocchi. You have to be prepared for the occasional ‘tude, but the food remains worth it!

U Kroka is my favorite lunch spot in Praha 2 because of its INCREDIBLE value. Seriously, you can order an amazing pork belly dish with roasted potatoes and spicy tomato sauce(super filling, portions are generous) for essentially $ 4USD. I haven’t had a bad experience here yet. I’d recommend their soups(and their salads for dinner, especially the goat cheese/beet one). Also, free tap water! Service is incredibly friendly.

Awesome food and excellent value! Great and friendly service to boot. Dinner was so good here that we came back for lunch the following day. This can’t-miss restaurant is a bit away from the touristy areas of Prague, which is nice, but is still extremely easy to get to because it is located just a few minutes walk east of the heavily-trafficked Vlatava River. For dinner, my wife and I shared(1) a thick and delicious Czech sirloin steak with beef sauce flavored by Gold Slivovitz(Czech brandy), plum skewers wrapped in bacon, and served with an amazing and hefty side of creamy gratin potatoes(equivalent of $ 16⁄14 €), as well as(2) a mouth-wateringly-tender serving of boneless pork knee with a dark beer sauce, glazed root vegetables, and roasted potato gnocchi(equivalent of $ 7/6,5 €). For lunch the following day, we had the special of the braised beef cheeks with mashed potatoes and the pork medallions. Both were very good dishes, though not as good as our dinner entrees. Did I mention that half liters of draft Pilsner Urquell are around $ 1.75/1,5 €? Yeah! Awesome! Whether you dine here for lunch or for dinner, you will leave stuffed afterwards. Luckily, if you’re up to it, the walk back up to some of the main sightseeing areas of Prague is a really nice one and not too long… just follow the river back up!

Amazing! Way to blow me away, Prague, with your delicious traditional meals in a lovely neighborhood and flowing beer. This place is extra special because the food(goulash and rabbit) was the best we had during our visit. Hard to say because the food in Prague is to die for! This place also has the two colored beer, kind of like a Black and Tan. If you’re in Prague, go here. There will be no regrets.

Best food I have ever eaten!!! I had rolled rabbit with bacon and creamed spinach with browned potato gnocchi. Arne had pork knee. Cake with chocolate and ricotta for dessert. Three beers! $ 16 U$ each. Foot to the floor living! Full tilt– boogie!!! In Prague. Don’t miss it!

This place is a good value but the service is hit or miss; some waitresses are sweet and professional others are that special kind of arrogant rude that only Eastern European girls know how to dish out. Lemonade was very good, grilled veggie side dish was very good, roasted pork and cabbage was good.

There are many things I love about Prague and this place is on top 5 Great food, great drinks, friendly staff & insanely cheap of u compare it to Swedish currency. My second visit to Prague & second visit to this place. Roasted duck was an absolute favorite followed by stuffed rabbit leg. Very good quality and freshly made. Their 2colored beer is famous for a reason, ice cold, delish and special. As it’s summer, they also serve homemade lemonade, huge portion, totally fresh pressed lime and lemon and ice, u can choose between bubble or still water, absolutely amazing taste, very recommended. The best lemonade I have ever had, even better than my own home made version. We haven’t booked a table but thanks to our odd schedule, we got a table. Make sure you have a booked table if you are a normal-time eater. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak very good English. Talking about price, for 3 meals, 3 big beers, 3 lemonades, we payed less than 100swedish kronor per person, around 12 $ Highly recommended place, worth your time and money.

Food was great and the drinks were good as well. However the service wasn’t very attentive. I’m not sure if it’s because we’re foreigners but it took us awhile to get our drink orders in. The food took awhile to come out as well. It could be that they were understaffed though. I ordered #30 and shared with my aunt. All of the meat that came out with it were super tender and very well marinated. Don’t forget to make a reservation! They don’t take walk-ins.

All the reviews looked great! Couldn’t wait to try the place. Walked up on a Monday night around 7pm. The gentleman in front asked us if we had a reservation and when we replied we did not he pretty much laughed in our face with a resounding No and waited for us leave. So we turned around with our tail between our legs. I’m sure the food is great, but we wouldn’t know! Just make sure you have a reservation because we didn’t see that in any of the comments or reviews when we researched it on Unilocal

A little bit outside of the city centre and a real juwel. You have to make a reservation a few days in advance though, just to mention. The food is mainly the traditional food, but served in a newer, more fashioned way. Probably the best restaurant I’ve been to in Prague and even the cheapest one aswell i think(or one of the cheapest ones)

Awesome food! Found this place on Trip Advisor while traveling around Europe with a buddy. I have been unimpressed by the authentic Czech food and U Kroka was exactly what I was looking for. The food was amazing! They have the authentic Czech food also but much of their food is fusion. I had the soft cheese with spicy peppers as an appetizer, the onion soup and then the Ribs. I had the crêpe for dessert. Everything was outstanding! I highly recommend making a reservation here as they seem to be very popular.

I visited here in October of 2014 after reading and hearing several recommendations. U Kroka is a bit off the beaten path, but it’s totally worth the trip. Also, since it’s located outside of the city center, the prices are very, very affordable. My SO and I enjoyed a gigantic meal for $ 50(including tip). The food quality was the best that we had during our 4 day stay in Prague, and the service was lovely. We started out with the smoked ham plate. After 2 days of subpar food, we were so pleasantly surprised with this dish. It was gone in no time! The bread that was served was gone very quickly as well. For the main course, I had the leg of rabbit with potato dumplings, spinach, topped with a rich sauce. I very much enjoyed my dish; however, my SO found it too«game-y». I guess rabbit will always be a matter of taste. My SO had the«man platter» listed under the«manly appetites» section. It was a cutting board stacked with pork chops, duck breast, chicken breast, chicken wings, duck wing, short ribs and a bunch of different sauces. The meat was all very impressive and delicious, except the pork chops(those were overcooked and dry). For dessert, we enjoyed a crêpe with farmer’s cheese and strawberries. The beers are huge and very reasonably prices, and they have very good tea and coffee for after your meal. If we ever return to Prague, we will definitely eat here again.

Very nice and trendy looking place near the river to eat, but with no view of anything but the street in front of it. Staff speaks english and czech here. Our server was a guy, very nice and gave us very good service as well. I had their homemade roasted gnocchi with cream spinach. The gnocchi was good but there was no sauce, so if you were expecting the spinach to be a cream sauce as I was this is a surprise. It is more of a side of spinach then anything else. Gnocchi though was quite nice alone so no complaints there! My dad got their czech sirloin steak and I must say that was top notch. I have not had a better steak in Prague then this one. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and so tender it melts in your mouth. They also had phoenix wheat beer, a favorite of mine, homemade lemonades, and a variety of other juices and alcohols. As for dessert they offer some real czech things, such as the roasted homemade gnocchi with warm poppyseed sauce. It is nice but you have to like both things to make it work. I had the cheesecake which was a huge disappointment because it was literally a layer of cream cheese with a layer of cake on the bottom… strange and not American style at all. Overall, I liked this place but did not love it. I would only go back here for the good service and the steak-nothing else.

One of my husband’s colleagues discovered this place through the internet machine and invited us to come along and try it out. It was a short but pleasant tram ride from the city center, as the tram took us along the river. Located on a quiet street lined with trees, I had an inkling that we would have a lovely time here, and sure enough, we did! There is a nice outdoor patio where everyone was enjoying their meal, but it was fully booked so we settled for an indoor table. The extensive menu was filled with Czech classics, «manly, hearty meals», and vegetarian dishes, to name a few. I ordered the rabbit leg and it was perfect: succulent, flavorful, and juicy. The copious amount of creamed spinach, potato dumplings and veggies were a nice touch, and I definitely couldn’t finish it all! My table also ordered mix beers, which is exactly as it sounds: light and dark beer mixed together. It was surprisingly not bad, and if you think about it, it’s a easy way to enjoy both worlds! The only thing I didn’t like was that it was a bit warm inside. There weren’t any fans and although they had the doors and windows open, there wasn’t a breeze to help us out. Other than that, this is a nice, family friendly spot, a little bit outside the tourist destinations, with authentic Czech dishes. Come hungry!

This is a perfect restaurant for a perfect dinner. The food is well prepared and delicious. The service was great. They speak English and the menu is translated, too. We asked for some recommendation, we weren’t disappointed — rather we were excited. Finally u Kroka is a great tip for your next trip to Prague! We loved it!
