Manzara Restaurant

We were attracted to Manzara’s for the view and the large selection of veggie dishes. Having spent some time off the beaten tourist track in Turkey, the mezes were a bit of a disapppointment. You can get much better in Turkey. The main dish — veggie pottery kebab — was nice and tasteful. Staff was professional but very busy. I missed a bit of Turkey’s legendary hospitality. All in all an OK place, but not the best in town.

Had just arrived to the Göreme and based off a few 5 star Unilocal reviews, we had to check out this restaurant.
The ambience was nice, on a high hill top overlooking most the city. We had the option of sitting outside next to a fire, but not everyone was comfortable so we sat inside.
The restaurant was quaint. The server did not really speak English so it was hard to get any real recommendation from him regarding the menu. We heard that the pottery kabob is a special here in the city, but it was our least favorite dish we ordered. Lamb chops were tasty, but I have definitely had better. We also ordered the chili chicken, that the other Unilocalers had talked about, which was good, but not great.
All in all it was a normal dinner, with nothing really special to write home about.

The food, ambiance, service, and value was a three star at best!
The appetizers my friends ordered included the soups were pretty good, the stuffed mushrooms were meh, stuffed pastry of some sort that nobody was impressed by.
Ok. To good stuff. In Cappadocia you gotta do they clay pot stew. It was solid — good assortment of veggies and flavor with rice.
High prices for Turkey, but it’s a touristy spot!

Great view. Wonderful service. Get the chicken chili dish. Worth the short walk up the hill. Prices very reasonable.

The chili chicken is really flavorful. Try the Dark Efes beer, also really good. Excellent service, as is the norm… Thank you for being so hospitable!

Agree with Fred B: there are very few (3, for 3 restaurants), reviews of Goreme restaurants. This place is packed (and most restaurants have 1 – 2 patrons), the service is competent and kind (it gets cold in the hills at night; they bring the women blankets, while the men warm themselves with raki, a Pernod-​like, anise-​scented liquor), the food is rather good, there is live Turkish music, and a wonderful view of the «fairy chimneys», and the little black birds wheeling overhead.

Unilocal reviews are pretty scarce for Goreme — we ate at a few places but this was by far the best. It has a great view, big space for outside seating, live Turkish music, and solid food. Service, as it is most place in Turkey, was outstanding.
