I got my hair colored from Emily J and I absolutely loved the experience. Their customer service is excellent with a reasonable price to match. I color my hair all the time and so I worried that it would get damaged even more due to the chemical dyes but their Aveda products minimize the damage and I was very satisfied with my hair. I would definitely recommend them to my friend and I will be back.

AMAZING! I cannot say enough great things about my experience at Emily J Aveda Salon @ Emory Point! Liana, my stylist, was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend you asking for her when you schedule an appointment! I came into my appointment with an idea of what I wanted but still a little unsure. Liana looked at all the pictures I had saved on Pinterest and worked with me to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted done to my hair. Just FYI, she was working with long, baby fine, super thick, beach wavy, dark ash blonde hair with a well grown out ombré (pretty damaged) that had not been trimmed in 8 months. Liana helped me understand that what I was asking for was to tone things down a little and maybe make my hair look more like it has baylage highlights. It was so nice to have a stylist that worked so hard to make sure she understood what I wanted and that what we decided on was what I really wanted! After the toner/​color had been applied and my hair washed and dried, it was time for my haircut. What I really loved was how Liana would take pictures of my hair after she was done to make sure I was happy. She ended up shaping the v-​cut a little more for me after her first cut was done because it was not quite as angled as I wanted. Gene, another stylist, would walk around and help other stylist when she saw there was room for her to help. Her and Liana were so kind to me the entire time! You could just tell that they enjoy what they do and that they like working with people! If you are new to Atlanta, like me, or are just looking for a new salon and stylist then Liana at Emily J Aveda Salon @ Emory Point is where you should go! As long as I am in Atlanta I will not go anywhere else for my hair care!

Came in for a simple straight styling. They have great customer service and the place is so nicely designed it is a great experience. Would definitely recommend if you want to pamper yourself.

I live next door to Emory Point, so I was pretty excited to check out the new Aveda salon opening! I came in Wednesday asking about taking my dark hair that was currently light brown with the roots showing to an overall lighter color, and was immediately able to consult with some of the staff and make an appointment for Saturday with Jean. After talking for a while, they suggested a root melt, which would allow me to stretch out the time between touch ups (important, especially since I’m going from dark to light and prefer low maintenance color) and a deep conditioning treatment from the menu of complimentary services that come with a service.
On Saturday, I was welcomed with beverages (and later on a cookie), a comfy robe, and was taken care by Jean and Lexa — they both did an absolutely fantastic job! (The salon just opened on Friday and Jean is already booked for a whole month and has clients driving from Duluth to get their hair done by her… she is that good!). They took my hair through two processes (stripped the color and then added in new color). Both of them were fun to talk to and were efficient and SO good at their jobs. There were some also nice additions that I just haven’t seen at other salons… little ear cover pieces during the dying process (either to keep dye off my ears or make sure the stylist can get all the hair, not too sure!), physical hair color samples to look at, and they have an interesting membership system with discounts throughout the year that looked to be beneficial if you get your hair cut/​colored a lot.
It was also nice to learn about how Emily J is unique from other Aveda salons in Atlanta. Jean explained to me how Emily J specializes in taking very dark hair (Ex. Asian hair) to light colors and has a lot of practical experience in this versus many other salons where the stylists are trained in taking dark to light but may not do it that often. As someone who had gone to other high end salons and ended up with brassy hair… this lack of practical experience in taking dark to light may be one of the reasons. (My hair from Emily J is not brassy at all!) In addition, the salon has monthly classes for the stylists to improve their skills, and the owner allows them to use some products (ex. protein) to what they think is the best amount for healthy hair rather than other salons that limit these products greatly due to their cost. The salon had fun music videos to watch, an upper lounge with wine, and lockers to keep things in while getting services done.
Onto the cost — the cost is based on the number of processes. I had two processes (one to strip color, one to add color) ($ 150 each time, so $ 300 total). My prior hair color was from an Aveda salon in another city, so it only took one process to strip the color… however, they did say that if prior hair color is not from an Aveda salon, sometimes it takes more than one process to strip the color. So, while I do think this place is worth every bit of the price, if you are concerned about the cost I’d definitely recommend consulting with the staff first on the state of your hair color (if hair color is what you are going for).

Emily J Aveda Salons have the most talented stylists in all of GA. I have worked with many of their stylists and they all do a great job with ALL cuts, color, perms and wedding make up. The salon director Emily did a BEAUTIFUL job on my make up the day of my wedding. I would definitely recommend her! I have been to numerous of salons and this is far the best. My next venture will be to get their beautiful hair extensions put in.
They even have a coffee and beverage bar upstairs to lounge while waiting!
