Slow service. Not great food. Fish and chips were bad. Shepherds pie was meh. Cool décor on the walls. Tv’s were too small and oddly located. Downtown location was convenient.

I love Gibneys! It’s the perfect place to play pool or just hang out. Service is good and it’s not super loud. They got pool tables that are 2 dollars a game and plenty of tvs

Visited while attending a trade show in Atlanta. Was on my own so I sat at the bar. Bar staff were nice, food was good as well. Enjoyed a French Dip sandwich and a few brews. Great place to hang for a bit, enjoy some food and watch a game.

We’ve been here twice now, both times during Labor Day weekend when DragonCon is in full swing and therefore everything is a bit crazier than normal. Last year we shared the salmon which was FANTASTIC but took awhile to make. This year they weren’t offering the salmon because of the DragonCon crowds so we had the chicken pot pie which was also pretty darn good. They ran out of real silverware though so we were left with the teeniest tiniest flimsy plastic things that made cutting a pastry impossible. It was a real struggle to eat our food with the silverware offered, but they ran out. It’s DragonCon. It happens. We’ll go here again(but maybe smuggle our own silverware in, because there’s nothing sadder than not being able to properly eat good food because your utensils don’t work.)

I came here with my parents who were visiting the south for the first time and we absolutely loved it! My mom and I split the French dip and the pork tacos and I couldn’t say better things about either. The pork was smokey and tender while the French dip was cooked well with the perfectly crunchy baguette. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone, not just out of towners.

We loved this place when my husband and I were in town for my professional conference. In fact, the food was so good we went TWICE! The Shepherd’s Pie I got was the best I’ve had pretty much anywhere and his nachos were awesome too. One of my coworkers got the French dip which she liked a lot and her onion rings were just AMAZING. The service was sort of slow, but in their defense, the 2 servers were swamped. They were always helpful and friendly when they finally got around to you tho. Portions are huge and it’s reasonably priced. If you’re staying at any of the down town hotels or work down in the area give this place a try.

The food is amazing, the service is a little lacking. It’s ironic as the day I was originally planning going, they were closed for staff training. The problem is that you can sit wherever you want, so you kind of get missed. I guess just don’t go if you’re starving. However, the food is worth the wait and the servers are friendly.

English pub, with large screen TVs over the bar. The place was packed so we ate at the bar. No worries, great service, burgers were above average and the nice bar tender was ever attentive and keep the fresh beers coming. The place is narrow with the bar upfront, but the seating goes way back. rather dark colors and dimly light booths.

Visited while at a convention and did not want to eat at the expensive hotel restaurants. Casual and laid back atmosphere. Our group had burgers and chicken tenders. Food was fresh and very filling. Friendly staff and quick service.

Ate here a couple times when in town for a convention recently. If you like spice, try the ghost pepper wings. They were amazing! Prepare to guzzle several glasses of water if you plan on eating all 8 wings by yourself! Delicious! Another visit some friends and I tried a few other appetizers all of which were good. Their whiskey prices are fair, way cheaper than the local hotel bars if your staying in one of those. The atmosphere has a very local feel even though its very near everything downtown. Overall good pub!

In my opinion, this is the absolute best place to eat during Dragon Con. They have the system down pat, and can get you in and out way faster than any place around. The food is solid and filling. I was impressed by their draft list during my recent visit, too. I always get the chili frito pie when I’m there. Frankly, I need something hearty to soak up all the booze consumed during the convention. Gibney’s has always come through for me in that regard.

We stopped in here for a pre-drink in the afternoon. Walkable from most downtown hotels. Our bartender was super nice and friendly. There weren’t many people in at the time we stopped in-we were looking to pre-drink before our conference evening festivities began. The drinks are reasonably priced and they have a good selection of beer. Come in with the right crowd and you’re bound to have a good time.

I ate here mostly because it was close to my hotel while in Atlanta for a trade show. I had no idea I was about to get the BEST grilled cheese sandwich ever. The bread was a 9 grain wheat and slightly over side compared to grocery store bread. Then there were at least three cheeses on there as well as bacon and sliced tomato. The tater tots on the side didn’t hurt anything either. Service was great too and it was the waiter that suggested the grilled cheese. I am really glad he did. Its a must try if you are in Downtown Atlanta and its right behind the Hard Rock Café so you can’t miss it.

Gibney’s has a decent location but is definitely lacking in the whole story. Let’s talk about what makes this place average. Pros: 1. Great location for business. Easy to find and friendly staff. 2. They had a great drink special on Newcastle that night. Look for specials across the board. They also offer the typical pub fare if you’re hungry which is pretty good in general. 3. Pretty spacious and seems like it could be a good spot for hanging out and meeting people. Cons: 1. The location is great but the availability of parking isn’t. The main problem with downtown Atlanta is that there aren’t many viable options for parking and if they exist they’re overpriced. 2. Maybe it’s just me but I’m not a fan of places that allow smoking. That’s how they get around the rule by ensuring it’s always 21 and over only. 3. I was so saddened by the billiards room. The tables are not centered and the pool cues were all broken or damaged in some way. I don’t care about paying money to play, but keep the equipment up to date and usable please.

I work with a bunch of people who love Irish pubs. No matter where in the world we are, they find one and we pretty much camp out there every night. China? Irish Pub. Brazil? Irish Pub. It drives me NUTS! It’s not that I dislike Irish pubs necessarily, it’s just that I’d much rather be exploring something local than going to a pub that seems to serve the same old standard drink list in the same old atmosphere. So when my friend suggested that we meet for dinner and said that we’d be going to Gibney’s, I cringed… until I saw the beer list. You see, I love to drink porters and stouts and almost no one, outside of a craft beer place, has any. Except for Guinness, which is not my favorite. Gibney’s has FIVE stouts, two of them local, and at least 3 other dark options that were all awesome. How do I know that they were all awesome? Because I pretty much drank them all, in one night. In hindsight, drinking the entire beer menu was not one of my better choices but I couldn’t help myself. I can’t remember the last time I encountered a beer list so awesome. We also ate food, which was solidly good as well. I had the pot pie, it was tasty, and the puff pastry that comes on top is enormous! It’s not just the beer that makes this place great, it’s the servers too. The two guys that took care of us every night, Ryan and Eric I think, were awesome. They really knew their beers, made great recommendations, and amazingly remembered every beer that each of us had had in order, even when we hadn’t been in for a few days. Pretty impressive! Bonus points too for being open during Atlanta’s icesplosion part 2. This trip I wasn’t trying to avoid going back to the same place over and over, I just might have been the instigator. I can’t wait to go back, have some delicious beers and play some Golden Tee(I love Golden Tee!) or shuffle board, or pool. So much fun! So if you can’t tell, I loved Gibney’s. The only thing I hate about it is that they got me hooked on the Terrapin Moo Hoo that I can’t get in Chicago. Curses!
